Ok, maybe my neck hurts a little bit. My father wanted to see what the rubicon was all about, so I took him out and showed him this morning. Nothing much, but enough to get the point across. I had a few opportunies to show off the lockers and swaybar disco, but we were both inside the rig at the time. Oh well, hopefully the pictures from tomorrow will be more interesting.

This one is my new desktop background:

Thanks. I'm not such a fan of the east *coast*, but I love the White Mountains like my family. I can't stand my area right now, but by this time next year I'll be up right next to the WMNF, with almost no light pollution at night, little traffic, wheeling, mountain and road biking, hiking, camping, kayaking, climbing, you name it right out my front door  . It can't come soon enough.

I still like the KJ better...

TJ is the best looking Wrangler in my opinion.

Good for you.

Looks are objective, which is why I don't really care about how something looks as long as it performs. The TJ may have looked better, but the JK outperforms it in every catergory.

Our KJ is nice, but I really like that I was able to drive off the lot with the Rubicon and be able to go places that even TJs would get stuck.

You really sound like a jerk.

I was saying that I like the TJ better, which makes it pretty obvious that it's my opinion. I didn't think it warranted a comment from you. This board is a place to share opinions. If you think your opinion is the only one that matters, why don't you find somewhere else to hang out?

Thanks for the time, bud. ;-D

Huh? I don't know where you found anything malicious in my reply to you, I was just explaining why I bought my JK...no need to get snippy. I also said "good for you" that you have your own opinion about something, unlike many people I know.

This board needs one of those Emoticons that shows the face poking the other face with a stick so I can say "everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how stupid it is", so I could say that and tag it as being a joke. Lighten up. Of course, we all know that the internets is serious business  .

says you

your JK came off the lot with 32" tall tires right?
your JK came off the lot with lockers front and rear right?
your JK came off the lot with a "fancy do the work for you" sway bar thing right?
your JK came off the lot with a $30,000+ price tag right?

My TJ cam off the lot with 26,000 miles and bald street tires the cost to me ~13,500
I have sence made it so that the same 32" tall tires would fit ,not on it only running 30's
it has lockers and I can disconect the sway bars and I can lift any wheel over 30" off the gond and the other 3 will stay
I have yet to spend even $20,000 on my TJ and I will promice you that I can follow ANY JK on any trail out there

also remember 1 thing when I "squeez" by in my TJ what will happen to your JK? most of the good trails were cut using TJ's
or what about that 2 point turn I make in my TJ that will be 3 for you and 5 for the unlimited

and the JK is better that is about as much of an opinion as me saying that I am "the worlds best driver" or "gods gift to the offroad world"
please

if you like it drive it but dont go saying how it is better than every thing else out there
I like the FJ but I dont plan on buying one and saying how great it is or braging on how the offroad after market is welcoming it with open arms
if I go get one I will say I have it I like it and I plan to do this with it and leave it at that

sorry rant over

Good for you, it sounds like you have a nice truck that you like alot. I happen to like mine. It also sounds like you're trying to start a pissing match over nothing.

I'm talking about on paper, and in safety features (side airbags), and in comfort, and in price (NEW) and in bang for the buck, not nessicarily talking about the 1 inch on either side that the JK is wider than the TJ.
Yes, it CAME off the lot with 32" MTRs and the ability to fit up to 34" with NO mods.
Yes, it CAME off the lot with front and rear lockers.
Yes, it CAME off the lot with a front swaybar Disco (who wants to get out and get muddy to disco the bar?)
No, it came off the lot under 30k, about 3-4k less than a TJ rubicon.

I'm not saying that the TJ is a piece of crap here, I'm just stating facts. I have a better approach, breakover, and departure angles, a comparable turn radius, and I paid less for it. You're taking so much offense at nothing. And don't give me the "real jeeps are built not bought" crap. I wanted to buy a vehicle that will give me the most for the money I pay for it up front, and I did. I can take the 4k that I saved over buying last years model (not anymore, the dealers can't get rid of them around here) and buy some bigger tires that will fit without any mods, maybe new bumpers, some other stuff if there's any money leftover.

I didn't say anything about it being better than everything else out there, I merely said that it IS in fact, a better vehicle than the TJ (which is an amazing truck nonetheless). I'm sorry, I didn't realize that we all drive our vehicles within 1" tolerances on either side, in reference to you "squeezing" past in your TJ.

I started this thread with a few pictures of me going out and having fun, and apparently you guys need to get out and have some fun as well, because you sound really pissed off.

I'm seriously not looking for an argument here, I've just been put on the defensive, and this is what happens.

I grew up in Burlington mass and have a house still in Glen NH...just outside of north conway. Lone Tree is in Colorado and about 1 hour from all the ski resorts, and about 30 minutes from all the wheelin you can imagine. :D

I saw this all coming a hundred miles away....the TJ/JK war....much like the TJ/KJ war.......

I bought a JK Rubicon Unlimited....still own my KJ....and have already been slandered as a non-jeep purest, even though I am an owner of an Expedition Business.....

My response...I buy what it is best suited for the work I do.....

The JK Rubicon Unlimited was Overland ready...out of the box....straight from the factory, which meant to me....less time f***ing around underneath it and more time planning my trips and more time on the trail.

So far it has performed totally outstanding in EVERY capacity.....it has gone over and beyond what my Liberty (which is modified) is anywhere near capable of doing.

It has been tested in water, snow, mud, and rock in fairly severe locations, and passed with glowing colours.

I love it.....I just think its going to take time to grow on the so called "purests" just as the Liberty did......and in fact just as the TJ did......

Remember back in 1996 when the TJ Wrangler was first released.....the "purests" nearly had a heart attack out of sheer disgust for it.....now.....they love it and think its the end of the line of an era.....just as they did with the YJ

News flash purests.....technology advances, why fight it....embrace it and enjoy it for what it can do for you. Everything about the JK is better.....yeah yeah yeah....go on start with the flaming and slamming.....but in my 12 years of wheeling....nothing, from FACTORY can even touch it......NOTHING.....remember....I said factory......as in STOCK.....I beleive this to be very true....not opinion.

Anyway, I know you guys are trying to tame the beast in the post....I just read it all in one shot and wanted to out $6 in the ring.....

Now....I'm done. Hahahaha

I'm gonna go drive around in the snow storm in my JK......cuz I can....and its fun....BYE!

Listen all the 4x4 mags are raving over the new jk about being the best 4x4 for 2007. I like my libby but man would a new wrangler be awsome. One a side note if someone buys a jeep and takes it off-road that is one less jeep that is going to get the soccer mom complex. People look at the libby and say nice jeep to bad it never sees trail, or that is a girls vehicle ever seen ghost whispers (mind you girl driving the jeep is smoking and would do stuff to her without a doubt  ), but I show up to work muddy or drive around muddy and people get the point. It is the vehicle I bought it hauls my kids around and is a way better 4x4 then I thought it would of been (had a toyota 4runner before). So if someone is taking their jeep off-road and having fun who cares if ur jeep has a foot of lift and 40's. Just enjoy it and have fun that is all that should matter.

a few quick things
you are the one who stated that the JK was better in "every way" wich we know it is not compareable yes better no
as to the better break over how? longer wheel base and not high enough to make up for it 1 or 2* is only for the sales lit. The same can be sid for the approach and depart angles "plastic meet rocks ,rocks eat plastic"
and I dont know if you had a look at your drive shaft yeah it is huge but look at the end no U-joint better right?
only if the joint is bigger than the yolk on the end of the DS but it is smaller than the TJ front DS

and in what world can you replace the 32's with 34's no lift? that was a joke right? to fit 33's you need to do a budget boost I dont own one and know that
I am not a purest and will not say any thing about real jeeps are built ,you know that, but I will correct you if you are wrong and down what I drive
remember that I drive my KJ to 2 different 4X4 club meetings monthly and take it to several other events through out the year so I know about the purest
I tell them that they dont have to drive it I do and I also dont go around telling the YJ guys that the TJ is hands down better I show them

so your opinion ,you belive, is true?

I think that I am right 99% of the time too does that make me right?
look stock to stock it will come down to driver PERIOD.

Look you guys got your JK's and that is great I hope yall like them cause they cost WAY more then I would spend on trail rig
I bought my TJ with the plan to mod it and make it better than the rubi's with out looking like it has been realy moded and it has worked I run into guys all the time talking smack about my rubi this and I can go here and your TJ wont make it and when I get to the top and have little or no trouble they then want to know what mods I have
I tell them "the ones that count" that is my opinion and I beleive it to be true
