I've been in Colorado now for about 9 years (on and off) and I have yet to see any big horn sheep. :cry:

When I lived in Vegas there was herd that lived by the dam and you could pretty much count on them to be there. Very cool to see in the wild. I never saw any big rams though.

I've seen the big rams twice. That was much cooler than the ones I saw today. I usually see big horn sheep every time I drive up to Estes Park. They are always close to the shoulder eating grass.

Same here. Georgetown, but so busy focused on I-70 and traffic, I can't look very long. A glance at them and back to the road.

I'm a lowlander that lives in Kansas City, and I've come across a group of big horns three times in my visits to your beautiful state in just the past handful of years. I've run across them early in the morning during the summer alongside C-14 between Ft. Collins and Walden or out in the middle of nowhere while camping in December by Wilkerson Pass West of Woodland Park and Divide. Just get out away from high volumes of people but in a location where steep mountainsides are around and then keep your eyes open. Gotta enjoy the wildlife.

Oh, and for the record, every single time I've seen big horns, I've been on or in a motorized vehicle. In my personal opinion, motorized vehicles do NOT cause wildlife to leave an area as some people in the media like to portray. And thus, portions, but not all, of our public lands should remain open to motorized vehicles in my opinion.

If you knew me, you'd know that I spend an inordinate amount of time in the back-country. I still can't believe I haven't seen any.

Bighorn sheep are quite common in the rocky mountains of Alberta. I once came face to face with one leading a pack on a trail down a mountain that i had hiked for pictures. Needless to say i gave him the right of way. Got some of the best pictures that day i've ever taken but also got ticks. :cry:

It's b/c your looking too hard. :wink:

If you want a good place to see them, hit RMNP. Take the Fall River entrance instead of the main entrance. Drive by the Sheep Lakes area. You can usually see them there all throughout the summer time.
