Ive been readying up and trying to learn everything I can about the CRD (KJ) because Im searching Autotrader right now looking for one to buy. While I understand some people might feel uncomfortable talking about unplugging the MAF, if you do so are the SEGR and Provent still necessary? What exactly is a road tube? Is it the same as an elephant hose? I have an elephant hose on my TDI Jetta. Ive seen SEGR threads for purchase, is there someplace to get a Provent if its still necessary with an unplugged MAF? Thank you. |

Thank you. I don't claim to be an expert here, but I believe that you would still need to do the EHM/Provent when running the SEGR. The SEGR electronically bypasses the EGR valve keeping it closed. Your CCV hose is still dumping crankase gasses into the intercooler hose, so you would still want to address that. Provents are available here: http://www.airnowsupply.com/tdi.htm however there is one being made that is about a third as much. I like the design of this one: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... 634#296634 |

ORM/SEGR address the EGR system which dumps exhaust gas into your intake. EHM/Provent address the CCV system which dumps oil into your intake. 2 different systems - both bad for performance - but............... Please note any modifications are for 'Off Road use only' we would not recommend modifying a Federally Mandated Emission control. (Provent would be legal) |
