JK Axles?

So I have been considering spending a pile of money at JBA. D30 steel front diff, new gears w/ ARB's front and rear, 6 in lift kit, the whole deal. Now that is A LOT to spend to MAYBE fit 33's and have relatively poor articulation. Now, I could spend a bit more and go SFA, but I'm not really willing to give up the ESP and ABS. Is it safe to assume that the JK ESP and ABS equipment would be compatible with the KJ electronics?

OR, I could probably have custom axles buit to include all the KJ electronics in something like this:

which would be massively expensive, but I've got way more mods into the KJ than I'd ever get back out of it, so I'm thinking maybe I should just go bulletproof and run it forever.

Anybody have any suggestions to make this work? What issues am I likely to run into?

I would talk to currie. I know everytime I have called them and mentioned KJ they really don't want to talk to me anymore. Either that or talk to your local drive line shop. These things have to be able to be kept. Its not like your going from disk to drum brakes.

Ive been told the JKs axle wont let the ABS and ESP systems to properly work on the KK. It wasnt necessarily a trustworthy person, more so just a jackass that likes to shat on everyones parade.

As far as i know it hasnt been done, so who is to say. JK D30 on a KK would be really convenient cause the front diff is the same and you could transfer over your gears and locker if you had them. Then just use the stock 8.25 in the rear. If i was to SFA my Jeep its the way i would go, or at least start more research towards that direction. I dont ever see it happening any time soon though. :lol:

The JK axles' ESP and ABS systems are compatible with the KJ.

KK, not so sure.

this is the route I will probably go with.

I would make sure they are Rubicon axles though.

Ditto, my JK axles are going under the KJ when I upgrade them. As for keeping the 8.25 in the rear, I wouldn't suggest it personally. Different bolt pattern and width to begin with. You can pick up a set of X 30/44 axles for right around a grand. Which I think will be more than strong enough for the KJ. The Next Gen 30 handles 35's no problem and a hella lot of people are wheeling them with 37 with just sleeves and trusses.

So, those of you planning on using JK axles, are you planning on keeping the ESP and ABS in tact?

So...based on my initial research, it appears that the JK's have speed sensors at all 4 wheels, while as we know, the KJ has 1 at each front wheel, and one in the rear diff. I'm guessing we can't adapt the KJ's 3 signal system to use the JK's 4 signal system. However, I assume it would work just as well to use TJKJ2002's transfer case mounted speed sensor to take care of the rear, and just use a JK style axle in the front. I'm still not 100% convinced that the JK sensors are just "plug & play" with the KJ system though. Has anyone verified this for certain?

'06 and '07 KJ's use a ABS/speed sensor on each wheel,they got rid of the one sensor in the rear diff after '05 when ESP became standard.

You might want to check to see if the JK's ABS sensors will adapt to the KJ's system since the KJ's use the ABS sensors for the ABS and vehicle speed(speedo) while the JK only uses the sensors for ABS because the speedo is still driven from the t-case(Rubicon models).There is proof that the JK sensors will adapt to the KJ's system,no proof they won't work either.

That's encouraging, it seems logical that if multiple Jeep models were using rear wheel speed sensors on solid rear axles, they would make it a common part. I don't know much about how the system works, but I would guess that the sensor is basically a "dumb" data collector and just trasmits the speed readings to the computer. It doesn't seem like the sensor would care if the data is being used for just ESP/ABS or ESP/ABS/Speedo.

I'll definitely be doing more research...

Maybe but the JK's tone rings will be bigger then the KJ's,then you got 2 wire and 3 wire sensors.
