Two questions. (I searched a bunch of threads...no concrete yes or no).

A) Will a 16x7 steel wheel with 4" of BS rub like crazy with 255/70-16 on a KJ with 2" of lift? Or fit OK? Anybody got hard core proof?

B) Will the factory TPMS sensors work with steel wheels?

I'm leaning toward just picking up a set of factory alloy replacements...but just thinking of all my options.

TPMS will not work with steel wheels.

Lifted on MOAB Rims (16x8 with 5" BS) 265/75s fit with major trimming of bumper/wheel well liner and pinch weld pounding, with some rubbing if I remember correctly.

on stockers 245/75s fit fine.

I am sure there would be little to no rubbing on bumped out wheels with 255s

My stock size tires on stock rims rub the bejeesus out of my sway bar since I lifted due to the change in suspension geometry/where the widest part of the tire sits, with taller tires the wide part would move away from the wide part of the swaybar.

255's on the stock rims on 1.25 spidertracks rub the fog light doors and pinch weld

you'll have to pound the pinch for 255-70 with, or without the spacers

the front fog light door area rubs is live-able

My TPMS work just fine on my steel rims. It just comes down to the manufacture. Since I got my rims off of craigs list, I don't know the manufacture...

So...those of you with TPMS and steelies...how are you doing it? Just ignoring the lights on the dash? Or is there some way to disable TPMS?

Called Quadratec, and they told me that TPMS does work with steel wheels. He said that you do need a dealership or qualified technician to move the TPMS sensors over for you though. Hmm...

I called my local tire shop where I got my tires and talked to the manager (fellow Jeeper also) and he said yes...some steel wheels work fine with the sensors, but some don't. He said another thing is, if you buy one and mount a tire on one to see if it'll work...and then it doesn't work...a lot of places won't take the wheel back. So you gotta' watch out for that.

If you pull the fuse the light will still stay on constantly. I took apart my dash and covered the light from the back so you would never tell.

OK, new question. Are all factory TPMS sensors the same?

I found a relatively new set of 4 TPMS sensors sitting in my garage. They came from a 2007 Ram 1500 with 20" wheels. I noticed that the stems in the sensors pivot on a joint to accomodate various wheels. Will these interchange with the Liberty TPMS system?

I'm not a TPMS expert, but I think as long as it has the same radio frequency as the KJ uses, it should work.

From my KK FSM:

The TPM system operates on a 315 MHz radio frequency. The 315 MHz sensors can be easily identified by a black sensor body, with (an oval insignia) (1) and a grey valve cap (2).

Like I said, that is from the KK FSM. You need to figure out what radio frequency they transmit.. They might work. I'd call a tire place like discount and see if they can tell you what radio frequency they transmit...
