Couple of Quick answers:
The Tent is held on by a sliding track system with a grand total of 8 bolts holding it in place to an All J products flat mount rail system. Steve had one designed to fit heavier load roof racks, so we just used it and it worked like a charm.
Price (sit down, but remember "Price is soon forgotten, Quality lasts forever") Jobber on the tent is set as of today at $1285 per without a mounting system. That includes the over hangng annex you see on the FJ... lots of extras available including a zip on annex to hang below the opening compeletly, a side awning for the other side of the truck and a mosquito net to surround the awning. We don't mess around here at ARB
Getting it on and off is about as hard as a TJ hard top... two guys (we used a forklift for mine... Ole girl is a little tall these days) can have it on in less than an hour once you have rails that can handle the load installed. All told, with pulling the old rails off, installing the new heavy duty ones and fitting the tent with the fork truck, I had it done with a buddy in under an hour.
I have exact weights and measurements at the shop and will post them tomorrow am. You'll also notice that he FJ has a split side half rack with our logo on it... we'll be selling these and that will allow for some use of the roof for cargo in addition to massive kick stupid tent storage...the All J Rails can be used to fit it, and once I have some time, I'll fit one on and post a shot or three...lets face it, the KJ is small... so space is at a premium.
Yes, the mattress stays inside, everything is sealed under the protective cover. It's about 3" thick and pretty comfy. To set it up, you take off the cover and unfold it... and you're done. Your wife can do it. And she'll love the mattress.
Bottom line, it's spendy... but well worth it if you spend as much time out on the trails as I do. With the price, it's obviously not for everyone.
A little bird tells me to keep and eye on 4WD and SUV for more details and interior shots and some pretty cool shots of a KJ to boot... maybe in July. If you're interested....hmmm...
