I got my tires on only to find out they rub the pinch seem, fog light door, back fender and back doors. I flexed the rear out and tried to open the door and thought the fender was going to come off. They are loud from 30-45mph and the steering is really stiff/I can feel every bump in the road; so I know the rack +pinion cannot handle them. Im thinking of selling them right now for the price I paid. Do you all think anyone would buy them? Should of went with 245/70/16 like everyone told me not to. The braking is about the same but I can tell they are there. It seems to down shift alittle early so I know it cannot tow our boat anymore. If I do sell them Im not going to bother with any other tires, Ill just stay a street jeep and keep the stock tires till they wear out and buy some more street tires. :? :( :x

I can deal with the rubbing in the front, it barely touches but Im going to call all j's tomorrow and see if I can get some of their rear bumpstops. Im just tired of taking the suspension apart on this stupid jeep. What psi should I run? I havent checked them all yet but they are between 34-35 from the 2 I checked. Would 32psi be enough?

I've heard that some ppl run about 30psi without any issues....personally since i am driving in the city alot I keep my psi just below 40...but that is me...made the ride pretty smooth from what I can tell...but I hit a pot hole the other day and I think it got knocked out of alignment a touch....might have to get checked out...hope everything works out though since your starting off a lil unhappy

looking at the pics and the tire size it is the whole combo that is hearting you
the tire is very wide and taller than stock the rim is offset out so the outter edge of the tire is not in the wheel well
that is what is rubbing

i would sell them if you can and scoop up some BFG mt's in the stock tire size
the 225/75 on the factory wheel will not rub lift or not they are 29.5" tall
the 245/75 on the factory wheel may rub not sure they are 30.7" tall
the total differance is only 1.2" you will only gain 1/2 of that under the jeep
so that means that the larger size will cost you mpg and they may rub wich would bug the heck out of me
all to gain .6" of ground clearance? to me it just aint worth it

if you have doubts pull out a tape measure and look at how little 1/2" is then find something that is that tall put it next to your jeep and think how small that is compaired to your jeep?

i have always said that to go from 30's to 31's is not worth it even 32's is a streach so why but to go to 33's from 30's is worth it that is a full 1 1/2" off the ground pull out a tape and look at that it is not much but 3 time a 1/2"

hope this helps

It's all due to the fact that you only have that 2 inch lift. Maybe get some spacers and get up to 2.5?

I went from 29" to 30" and didnt think they would rub at all since people are always using the rubicon rims with the 245/75/16's, they have the same back spacing. Im going to get some bumpstops made or buy some from all j's and that will fix the rubbing in the rear. I just wish anything I would of gotten the 245's. Im going wheeling this weekend so I will decide if Im going to sell them or not then. If I am, ill get the tires popped off and sell just the tires and downsize to a 245.

That wouldnt help the rubbing in the rear, it would still flex to the same point. The front will be ok.

i run the mt's on the TJ at that and it rides great may be a little low but i dont drive it but maby once a week to go get a movie or p/u some thing to eat
the KJ's at's are kept at 32 for both wear and for ride

Anyone have any ideas for a quick bump stop? Do you think a piece of wood on the spring perch would stay for the weekend if I glued it in there with some gorilla glue. That crap holds about everything. Its not like it needs to be strong, just needs to stay in place.

that or if you have a rubber mallet your not using laying around...take the head of it and shave down to necessary size and mount it with th glue or otherwise...that might work too...

I see you live in Eastern KY....certainly you can find some old mining belt laying around? Glue/screw some together to the thickness you need. You are right about the Gorilla glue.. that is some tough stuff.

I see that for the front, but with the OME lift in the rear wouldn't he have the same setup as the Frankenlift minus the bump stops? I guess the bump stops would help, or maybe some HD springs if you don't have them.

What type of OME springs due you have? Maybe a clevis lift in the front if your not running one.

If I ever get around to lifting I was thinking of the OME/Rancho set-up, but maybe I'll reconsider. I thought some HD OME springs with Ranchos would clear 255/70's fairly well.

wood is not good
i am not sure about the KJ but on th TJ you can just un screw the bump stop and insttall a longer bolt and a spacer
first pull the rubber out
then there is a bolt up inside the cup unscrew that and the cup should come off with it
then if that bolt is long enough great just add the amount of spacer needed if not you will
then go to home depot by a longer screw and instal spacer and longer bolt

I have the ome HD's in the rear and the ome mediums in the front. I have a really small cleavis lift in the front also. I would not get this size of tire. They are WAY to wide and are to hard on the steering. I wish anything I would of gotten the 245's. My life would be alot better and I would of gotten alot more sleep last night. Im just glad my stock tires are sitting in the building and I can put them on anytime I want to. :D

No one has said how they look?!?!? Tell me they look awsome and maybe Ill feel alittle better!

I glued a piece or treated deaking on there and it seems to be strong. Ill flex it out later today and see if it pops it off. If it does Ill have to take the spring out and drill a hole to hold it in there.

Well, I glued that bad boy in there last night and flexed until the other wheel was off the ground a couple times and it stayed there. It only needs to stay this weekend then Ill give all j's a call and get me some of their bumpstops for the franken lift. The wood isnt quite thick enough, but it should keep my fender from being torn off. :)

I'm getting the same rims also soon(15"x8") and it is nice to see pics of how they look on a KJ before hand.I have got to say the look really good!I like how the bring out the blue on your KJ,I'm not a fan of blue but yours looks good(i'm not saying this either to make you feel better,it does look good).Sorry to hear that the tires are not making you very happy but sometimes it's trail and error to get it right for what you want.Hope they don't cause you to much pain and they might grow on you like my way to big and offsetted to much 265/75 R16 MT/R's(you want rub you should see my rub spots) did on me.

What BS are you going to get? I wish I could of gotten the stock 5.5, wouldnt rub as bad in the rear. I cannot believe you all get 32" tires on these jeeps. Sure it doesnt rub when going down the road, but what do you all do when it flexes? My 30" tires rub then.
