I've been pretty quiet about this up to this point but here are my $.02. I was really looking to doing this and I was really impressed that DC was going out of there way to include us in this. However, I was pretty sure that things weren't going to work out as advertised (call me cynical) and DC did exactly what I expected them to do. That is, they backed out and offered something much less instead. Go figure  Do I think we should go for the informal session??? YES. This will give us a chance to show at least one person at DC that we are to be taken as seriously as we take our KJs. If we don't jump at this opportunity, we will just support DC's claim that we are too loosly organized to be taken seriously and that aren't worth out time. By not doing this informal session, we would be not better than those that sent out an open invitation just to back out of it because we didn't meet some obscure requirements we didn't know about.

Pete, I agree. Unfortunately, I will be on the road or busy with work functions for the second half of July (save for next weekend). If this is going to happen someone needs to step up and organize it. If the meeting falls on a day when I'm in town then great, but I will be super busy the next two weeks.

Bob's contact info is in the emails I posted above.

I for one will go to that survey if I get an invitation but I will not participate in something other than that.

Bob, why didn't you give us a set date and time? Why didn't you tell us ONLY members of LOST in the Denver metro within a set mileage (no mileage given) could participate? From your posts, everything you had planned for us was not the same as the "research survey." LOST Rockies members were to touch and feel the new product and sit around a table and discuss it, not fill out a survey. See what you said and read it carefully (posted on Wed Apr 19, 2006 10:22 am). The research was specific for general population and "other" Liberty owners (in a specific distance to Denver) while you were looking for something other than that from us LOST Rockies owners because we were passionate about our KJ's more than the average owner.

Here are the nicknames of LOST Rockies people that said they were "interested." If a date had been set as you said it would be in one of your posts, by mid June, we could have had a proper amount of people attend.

1. Tokyojoe
2. USAFCOP
3. Skyjump136
4. KW_AV8R
5. huntin12ga
6. nails023
7. Mountain_Mongrol
8. gkidesign
9. Phil_T
10. RespectMyLiberty
11. Pjonesco
12. jiberty
13. TTU_TJ
14. Kugellager
15. BKH
16. CRD4me
17. BldrKJ
18. kevh
19. Muddmann
20. kikensJeep
21. winegirl
22. Boostedxt

Of these, it is possible one or two do not own KJ's but other Jeeps. That's fine. That's still about 20 from here. Again, you wanted the LOST Rockies opinion, not a Denverites or "average owners" opinion for the specific event.

*Note* 30 minutes of editting to tone it down. I still love my 2004 Jeep Liberty Renegade and all that it gives me (comfort and true off-road capability) but VERY upset with DC/Jeep. Toyota never did me wrong with the three vehicles I owned before a Jeep................

Dave, I understand how you feel, but Pete is roight on this one...

I sent an E-mail to Bob a few minutes ago, I CC'd all of you as weel, basically to put the ball in his court. He threw the invite out to Joel, now I am telling him that we have the time, and he needs to tell us when he has an opening.

I also threw out the option of going on a trail run close to Denver with us, I do not know if he is a wheeler, but if he is, and seriously wants to see what the Lib is capable of, he can come with us.

Now those of you up north, or that have been in CO longer than I, what trails close to Denver would be good to take him up if that is his choice? Also, I want to be sure we get a large showing if we do wheel, so not a trail that only the locked and lifted can make like the last one  ...

I through out Idaho Springs (BeauJoe's Pizza was awesome, ok not the service, just the pizza) so what do you all say?

I gave him my cell number to call me, or he can reply, if I get his out of office reply, I will try to call his number (hopefully a cell) I just want to have all of our ducks in a row prior to sticking my neck out for the axe.

Kingston Peak is good for pretty much anyone and it is close to Idaho Springs. Perhaps run it backwards from what we have done in the past. Great chance for the water to be there still. Skids are a sure thing. Rails not necessary.

Just checked my mail today. Still nothing for this weekend's event. I could've gone white water rafting with 57 people I work with, on Saturday, but it is too late to join up. Ruined my weekend.

ok, I just got a reply back from Bob, This is his schedule:

Hi Ted,

I am in Denver, arrived earlier this afternoon.

I am staying at the Denver Courtyard Marriott

My cell number is (248) 941-4859

My schedule is roughly as follows:

Wed & Thurs: 9-5 Convention center setup, could make myself available in the evening
Friday: Research begins and I am committed to be on-site Noon - 9:30pm
Saturday & Sunday: 8:30-4:00 at Convention Center, would love to do a late day ride if that is an option
Monday: Free day, planning round trip to RMNP but I am open to other options
Tuesday: 9-5 competitive vehicle ride & drive activity in Golden, CO.
Wednesday: Return to Detroit.

I see from your note that you took leave for this event. I want you to know that I am sincerely sorry that a L.O.S.T. group at the research did not work out, and I would very much enjoy meeting you and anyone else that is available to join us. A close friend of mine since kindergarten is in the Air Force, he is currently chained to a desk in DC, but he always speaks highly of his 20+ years in the service. Also, my nephew is currently in the academy here in Colorado. I hope you have other activities planned during your leave.

Bob

I have his cell number, and plan to call him.

Here is my question. What is the possibility of an evening run on Sat or Sun?
How many would be able to go?
Where?

If not a run, where else would be a good place to meet for a discussion?

He has called me also, I was asleep, so he is reaching out to the best of his ability.

What is everyone's schedules? I know I could do a run down here on Monday, is there anyone else available for a Monday quick run to Eagle rock? I have a meeting in the evening, so it needs to be a day only run if Monday.

I will check back later before calling Bob back.

I could probably run Eagle Rock with you Monday. I don't know if Bob will want to come all the way down here for that, though. We could always take him up Spring Creek.

He stated that he wanted to see Garden of the Gods anyway....

Also, He said that he has some things he would like to show us and get our impressions on.

I know a Sat/Sun Evening thing would be best for all of us, but if you are off on Monday, and want to do a run down in the Springs (Doesn't have to be Eagle Rock) Please post, maybe he will want to run with us on one evening and on Monday. Or just meet somewhere to talk on the weekend, and then run on Monday too. He seemed flexible on his "down time" to get with us.

Why not Bill Moore Lake? The lake (more like a pond) is awesome in the bowl.

My fever broke at 8:45pm tonight so I feel better. Been in a lousy mood lately.

Ted, I have the Unit Movement Officer course all this week and next so I'm not available at all on Monday but I will do my best to make myself available this weekend. I know that Jen has something planned for this weekend but I can't remember which day. I will get with her later today and post as soon as I know more. Like I said though, if I'm not doing this thing for Jen's work, I'll be there.

OK,

I just got off of the phone with Bob...

He will most likely be done around 2-2:30 on Sunday, so that would be the earliest day we could go on a run up north with him.

So who wants to meet with him for a Q&A/Trailride/informal focus group. He has called me three times now, and wants to bounce ideas and suggestions off of us and get our inputs for many of his projects. He has things to show us, but nothing he can leave with us.

I need to know by 3:30 tomorrow, so that we can get on his schedule and nothing else fills in the block instead of us.
I will be calling him back then.

Marty, you still up for a meet down here Monday to Garden of the Gods and a quick run up Eagle or anyother trail down here?

Ted

Should be okay. I might have to cut out early though. Any idea how long we're talking? I leave first thing Monday morning and will be gone for a week so my honey do list will probably be pretty long that day.

I'm up for both days. I will probably ride up with you Sunday, if that's ok, unless you are taking the family. Hopefully my jeep will be running again by Monday, but you know I'm always up for Eagle Rock. I need to get out of the house.

OK, Those of you familiar with the trails around the Denver Area, what is a good quick 2-3 hour trail to do in an afternoon that we would be able to do a stock KJ?

Where do we want to meet?

Do we want to do a dinner Meet after the run and discuss Bob's Ideas and ours?

As I said, I will be calling him back tomorrow PM, so I want as good of info as possible.
