You wanna see something cool. lay an AT/ 245/70 next to a MT LT 225/75.

Hope you folks don't get "overinflated" with the section width. Its the tread/to section ratio that is interesting.

For those of us that don't have a set of each to compare, what would we see? Got any pics?

I dont have them to look at but I got on tirerack.com and looked some info up. Turns out that the the section width on the 245-70's is a full inch wider than the 225-75's, but the tread width, what really counts, is only 2 or 3 10ths of an inch wider. Depending on which tires you compare. So even though your new AT 245-70 revos may look a lot wider the actual ground contact patch is only slight wider than a 225-75 MT.

Slight hijack: Hey Jeger: Hop over to the LOST Midwest topic and see about joining us for a trail ride 8/12....

Now: It is surprising how much difference there is between the "same" tire size when you compare maker-to-maker. I thought that the metric sizes would run a little truer, but not always, it seems.

In all honesty, I cannot see the slight advantage gained by changing tire sizes on a Liberty being worth it on a rig with any warranty left. Especially with the ball joint problems these things have. A 1" taller tire only nets you .5" in increased clearance. And a 10mm width increase is all but invisible. Careful shopping for the right tire would give you a tire of nearly the same size as the "larger" size and no warranty complaints.

Just for giggles, though, I put the 285/75r/16 (33x11.5) Interco's off of my '79 next to the KJ's wheel wells. Drool.
