You'll be waiting the longest, Mr. Irvine, CA.

But at least you can go surfing while you wait. Oh, and say hi to my sister-in-law. She works in Irvine (lives in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area).

Actually mine will probably be the last. Pony Express stops at Reno. From there stuff must be backpacked to Ukiah from where it will be rafted down the Russian River to Rio Nido. Then we'll all do a spirual 'Ommm' and teleport the unit to my front door.

Wow, you know a lot about transportation! No wonder you're the only one who rides that air-train from JFK to Oyster Bay!

It's not easy being in a foreign country like Long Island where you don't understand the language. And nobody looks like you.

You mean where nobody looks like they're in the right DECADE! We've got guys (as in "youz guys") walking around with Mullet hair cuts, or worse yet, tails!

cutting edge, they are not. For me, only my kids are "from" here!

Cool. 8) That’s good news. I hope it arrives in time for the Snowshoe Jeep Jamboree this weekend.

Thanks Adam for putting this together for us.

And what do we get for winning? Let's see, we had about 25 people on the list... how about everyone kicks in $3 and the winner gets his collar paid for!

(Keep in mind that I'm going out of town this weekend, so I'd have to do some wrenching at night, after the kids are in bed to beat ya'll.

IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE!

He shipped it to my office. (I'm a bit annoyed that he didn't call me since he's about 2 miles away, I could have avoided the $4.95 shipping; I guess it would have been about a wash with gas prices around $3.40 here  )

Anyway, it's real purdy. Allen key bolts.

This will be the lightest mod I add on to the KJ to date!!! Gotta love that aluminum. Now, the question is can I get it installed before my 1pm appointment and not get my suit dirty?!

I WIN!

It's an 8mm allen head bolt. You'll need an allen socket to get in there. I used an allen wrench to get it started, but it's hard to work in that tight space. I also left my tranny skid in place as it didn't seem to make that much difference and I HATE dropping my skids!

At first I thought the collar was too small! It is a very snug fit. So I took a break for chinese food. (I live in NY, afterall.) I went back and cleaned the area with brake parts cleaner to get all the mud off. Then I separated the collar and pushed it on as much as possible. For the bottom, I then put a screwdriver between the collar the the crossmemer right under it and pushed it up. On top, I actually tapped it down with a hammer. It didn't require much force AT ALL. NEXT TO NOTHING. Once on, I managed to thread the bolts (I put it so they were going straight down because that gave me the most amount of wrench room, and also allowed me to drop the bolts in and then alight the two halves.)

Then I needed to run to Home Depot and buy an allen socket set! I've always wanted one anyway, and it's good to keep in the Jeep's tool box (add this to that forum list) for the transfercase drainplug. With this, I was able to tighten it up. I went 4 finger tight. I got it even and tight, without distorting the 30A's housing. A quick test drive in 4WD showed no unusual noises, not that I'd expect any. And now I'm typing.

So, tell me what I've won, Don Pardo!

Got my 4 in the mail yesterday.

Was gonna install but looks like I need to drop the engine skid and super skid to get to it.

This weekend ...

No you don't. I managed to get mine on without dropping skids:

See my mini-write up on this thread and also on my web page:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/325889/17

YOu do need to take the collar apart, but I was able to do it this way. Just make sure you have allen sockets! A must.
