Some one pointed out to me that the rocker switch that is supplied with the Hella 500 driving kits should only illuminate when it is in the on position.. mine is lit up all the time.. on or off...
What is the proper wiring?

you have the ground and the hot switched on the outter poles.

Ground should be on top, green to the relay should be in the middle, green to the power source should be on the bottom.

THe switch has a little diagram on the back that you can use to determine which side is up. If the writing is upside down, turn it over.
