LOL! chrismc, I have no idea what code it will be called, but heh, yeah something like that.......hey, instead of it being referred to as "The Oz Bumper" lets refer to it as "The bar from OZ"after our beloved actor Hugh Jackmans' musical "The Boy from Oz" !! lol!!

lets just call it the TJM bar from no on........

Hey, does the singlet she's wearing say Farm Girl ? G'dy up !!

Doesn't anyone else prefer my stubby bumper design? I know I did a poor edit job with Paint, but you get the picture.

Hmmmmm, that actually doesnt look too bad. :!:

It will give the KJ front end a bit of a "Flat Fender" look too I guess ? You'd have to do something with the guards I reckon, but nice photoshop !!

Fark, I wonder who would have the nuts & spare cash to chop down an ARB bar !! lol!

I'm not fond of the stubby...for hard core trail riding, it may be better, but for the vast majority of my driving, I want my corners protected.

I've always thought the ARB's loop over tube section is too high & too wide. They should have mounted it inside the dropped section & lowered the loop by around 50-60mm ...imo..;)

For my TJM bar, they are looking at putting some extra fog light & indicator's in it. It would be a plastic moulded effort much like the ARB Sahara bars.

Hey, cut that out! I dont' like seeing my KJ all (photo) chopped up! It scares me.

I wasn't a big fan of the hoop on the ARB, but when it's painted the same color as the KJ, it blends in much more. Plus, it holds the hi-lift nicely.

And as for fit of the ARB on KJ, I think mine came out good. Much of this has to do with how good the fender trimming job is.

I think this is a good idea. Is it feasible? Would be nice to still have access to sway bar mounts though.

It is "sort of" feasible I guess. I was going to make one up out of flat 4mm alloy when my TJM front bar is complete, but I wanted to be easily removable so I can remove my sway bar without too much more drama (than it already is  ) so I was going to make it attachable/removable with large (but hidden) wingnuts so you can just do it with your hands, no fuss & light !!

It would really just be a brush bar I guess, good for travelling through the scrub & deep sand ruts too.......snow plough for you guys ? lol!!

I wonder what the shipping cost is to get that Aussie bumper over here

As Darby said, all of these bumpers attach to the frame just like hitch receivers, so if you're worried about ripping something off, the worry should be the same for both a bumper/winch setup and hitch/winch setup.

Wrong, dead wrong. The 'Aussie' bar in prototype stage has more bolt through points & extra steel plates to distribute the load than you can poke a stick at.

(sorry to get back to reciever hitch winches tokyojoe) but front towbar mounts are weak as piss if you ask me. They are not designed to pull trailers like proper rear tow bars, they are simply accessory devices. By the way, we dont have "Frame" chassis like you mentioned.

I'd think anyone can add steel plating to distribute the load of a hitch receiver mounted up front, and also bolt it through more places than the stock mounting points. Anything can be built up to be sturdier, you'd just use less material doing it to a hitch receiver compared to a whole bumper.

As for "tow bars", I think I've only seen one LOST KJ with one! A lot of people have hitch receivers...and we've yet to see one get ripped from a KJ. And, excuse my amateur notions, but I've never seen a hitch receiver ripped from any vehicle, anywhere.

I think many can attest to a hitch receiver's strength. I know LOST West's Clint has a winch mounted to a receiver, along with Ted from LOST Rockies to name a few. I also know that both of their receivers are rated lower than their winches. I'm not speaking for them, but I'd think if their receivers were weak, they would have failed...and then we would definitely have some gnarly pics on here!

Looks like just paint.

I wonder how much air is blocked by the winch up there. It is a nice bumper. Pricey, as I recall.

That bumper is really nice looking. Does anyone know how much it weighs compared to the ARB?
