 Post subject: mobil 15,000 mile protection

Just wondering if anyone is using this oil with the K&N Filter and how they like it. I've got an 03 I'd like to try it in. My buddy runs it in his Silverado and says it works good and has help the MPG's. By good I mean he hasn't blown the engine.

I like the Mobile 1 that actually goes 15,000 miles. 1500 miles is a bit short between oil changes for me! LOL

If you are talking about extended oil service intervals of 15k miles w/ the Mobil 1, why not just upgrade to Amsoil and go up to 25,000 miles between oil changes? The Amsoil Ea series oil filter is a full synthetic media filter that has been tested out past 25k miles and is the perfect filter for their oil that also tests good beyond 25k miles. Besides extending your service intervals further, you will also be running oil that tests better than Mobil 1 in every category. Click my signature link below for more info or PM me. :wink:

if you're under warranty, skipping to anything beyond 3,000 mile intervals ain't the greatest idea. DC could easily say that some engine problem was caused by oil change neglect if they figure it out, and as a result void your warranty. Just my 2 cents. I use Mobil 1 10W-30 and change it every 3,000 miles.

my cousin is running the amsoil in his Wrangler and loves it, changing once a year is awesome... Amsoil is the only brand i trust in my snowmobiles, and it has never let me down. The only reason i chose to run mobile 1 in my liberty is that none of the dealers in my area carry the automotive oil... and they sell mobile 1 at Walmart which is very convienient.


Either of the two oils are great for your kj, and will help with milage a little.

Your dealer/ the mfg would have to prove the failure was caused due to an extended service interval regardless of the oil brand or interval used. In the case of Amsoils extended service interval, NO MFG or dealer has Ever proven a component failure was caused by Amsoil products or suggested extended service intervals. If they ever did, Amsoil has a warranty that covers the failure and they will pay to fix your vehicle.
Do not let your dealer scare you into believing you Have to change your oil every 3,000 miles. They are full of it!

I am running amsoil and changing now at 7500 miles. I have the oil tested after every change with Oil Analyzers Inc, the prepaid test kits that are available from Amsoil directly.

My plan is to increase the amount of time between changes. But as it goes now, I dont drive the KJ very much now so I will end up changing the oil about once a year.

Im staying with 3k, its takes me 6months to hit that anyway. Also, Ive been hearing about to many valve springs breaking to not want that warranty. :?

If you read what JJ said, DC cannot deny you warrenty unless they prove that the oil and extended drain intervals did the damage, and if they actually do, then Amsoil will pay to fix it. I'll take that extra piece of mind over 3k oil changes and no "extra" warrenty...

Don't be scared! Read through my posts HERE for more info. I can also link you to info through the site in my Signature link on testing results and more info.

Personally, I go by the 15,000 mile or 1 year, severe service schedule as it works better for me and I barely drive 10k miles in a year anyway. IF I had a commuter car though I wouldn't hesitate to run it out further.

I have quite a few commercial hauling family friends; they drive off-the-lot f350s and the like, and get 600k+ miles out of stock engines. They swear on their children's graves that changing your oil every 5k and never more than 7.5k on a synthetic is what gives them trucks that run forever. My father met a guy while hauling down south with over 900k on his 00' ford.

Obviously I dont expect that many miles in normal driving conditions, since, of course, time is a huge factor; but still, these guys know what it takes to make an engine last. Every one of them will tell you a hundred times that changing your oil is the most important task for engine upkeep.


Based on what these guys tell me and how they laugh at guys who break down at 250k..

Every 3 on warranty for chrysler and every 5 like clockwork when I'm off.

And lets not forget that oil gets dirty.

Thats the same thing Im doing Miah! Every 3k while under warranty then 5k after. :D It takes me so long to get 3k I kinda like working on the Jeep when the time does come around. Ill change it this fall and wont do it again until next spring. Thats one reason I use syn, the time period is so big.

Imagine how much money and time they could save over the life of their trucks if they used the Best oil and filtration products to extend their service intervals? If an oil tests good after being run in an engine for 20,000 miles it is still good right? Why change it? Many diesel trucks also run a bypass oil filtration system that extends their service intervals out even further. Many over the road big rigs are getting many hundreds of thousands of miles out of their oil before even thinking of changing it by running Amsoil and Donaldson filters w/ a bypass. The $20 oil test tells them it is still good and they keep on trucking.
