While I 'was' looking forward to an armpit oiling, alas no, only made it up to my elbow.

Just make use of the KJ's approach angle and the CRDs torque and find a suitably steep incline to park the Jeep on for the oil change. The oil filter will be top-up and will not leak when removed...

You would not say that if you ever saw the inside of your CRD's oil pan. Best estimate by Greg at LubeSpecialest was at least 1 qt would be kept from draining when on a set of ramps. Yes that is the drain plug at the back of the pan.

Thanks, OldNavy, for posting that pic. I have always lifted both ends to check out the entire underside. Now I am glad I did!

Any reason for all the baffles in the oil pan?

They are baffles to prevent excess oil splashing and sloshing I guess.

I ordered mine last night. It will sit around for a while though. My next change is going to be at the dealer and I would much rather wait until I can install it myself.

Hey when you do ask if you can install the valve then, or if they have anb actual mechanic doingg the oil change let him install the adaptor/drain plug. Remember the adapter and drain plug will need to be screwed togather properly before installing, if Greg does not ship them that way.

I knew going into my sarcasm that draining the oil from the pan would be all but impractical if the Liberty were tipped up at an awesome 75* angle. But the mental image was too funny to pass up, ramping the Jeep up to spin off the filter....

Hey man people do strange things. A the base hobby shop one day a guy in stall next to me drained out his oil then started the engine to run the rest of the oil out. When ask later by the manager of the shop, the guy said he always did that when changing the oil. Yes it started a serious knock while running, however the 30w oil seem to quiten it down some as he drove off into the night.
