Don't jump the gun too quickly...

Me thinkies they're the same ball joints.

I wonder what the Dodge Nitro's suspension looks like?

so for all of us with lifts on our rig this shouldn'et be an issue with getting this done right?

It wasn't on mine. Some dealers are better than others about this. But the truth is, the part is bad and DCX is paying to fix it, so why would any RATIONAL dealer do anything but make everyone happy about this one? (he asks, knowing full well there are some pr1cks out there and some unfortunately are working at our Jeep dealerships!)

Well I can only assume there would be some major legal ramifications for a dealership to deny the "RECALL" that Chrysler puts out. No matter what condition the vehicle is, they should replace the parts that have been recalled due to safety.

Didn't know you could retroactively redesign a vehicle. Darn, those Jeep engineers are good!

Seriously, this statement has major implications. They pretty much imply we are getting the same ball joints as replacements. I'm hoping once people start getting the RECALL done that they post and compare pictures in this section to verify what's going back into the Jeep.

I will probably still get the moogs. If it is only a replacement whats the point? I'd feel a lot safer on the moogs knowing that they are more sturdily built and that I can fill them with grease whenevr I need. I checked mine the other day and you can see through the rubber boot as it is translucent. I can see there is little grease in them and I only put about 4600 miles on mine in the year since I bought it.

I just paid it off last week byt the way...YAY! paid it off in one year!

Wow, I checked my LBJ's last week and filled the complaint on Friday, wonder if I was number 111? Rather than getting the same ball joint replaced, I would rather buy the MOOG's and have the labour paid for by the recall.

Finally, more action! The sad part is that as some have noted, the replacements are almost certainly the same POS. They even have the audacity to state that the earlier replacement failures were due to "shipping damage"? Sure. At least now almost all of us have the option of free LBJ's and if it's handled like the first recall, you'll get them forever. Just remember to say "Please inpect my ball joints" every single time you have your Libby at the dealer.

Sounds about right for DC. If they did replace them under this recall & replace them with the same LBJ assembly, it would be great if the customer had a choice to upgrade the LBJ even at the customers cost, to a moog, but that would never happen, but I will insist on it if it plays out like this.

I heard a rumor that if you got them replaced before the recall, DC is required to reimburse you if you provide a receipt. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

On a car I previously owned (Dodge), I replaced the front rotors only to receive a recall notice shortly after. I was fully reimbursed after showing proof of purchase.

Only thing I would add is don't just say it, if at all possible watch them to make sure they do it. I've heard too many stories of things not actually getting done that I'd want to make sure they do it

In an article in todays Toledo Blade they said that all KJs produced up until March 2006 will be recalled. Something like 836,000 of them. They started to use a different brand at that time and are now stocking up to be able to have enough on hand to do the recall in a timely manner. Forget what else it said , article laying on my desk at the office. It "sounds" like they are not the same ball joints but it did not mention any names. Just wait and see what else comes out
