Does anyone know what this code means? I had the dealer do a tune up on my KJ and the check engine light came on 5 days laters and is throwing out the code P 0442.

I had that code about a month ago. I was told to replace the gas cap after i tightened it and hadthe code reset the light kept coming back. P0442 is listed as a small evap emission leak.. It turns out I had a holein one of the hoses that go into the charcoal canister near the fuel tank. After replacing the hose, the light went out and stayed out!

So it may not be just a gas cap, but definietly check that first....

That hose going to the canister by the gas tank was my trouble. It split right at the nipple. Replaced it, code went away after a few restarts.

Where did you buy that hose? Part number?

I just find it interesting that right after the dealer has had it for a tune up this happens.

I also need this hose, anyone know what size, or part number. It is cracked and I am going to wrap it in tape for now.

I am going to go to the store today. When I figure out what size fuel hose this is I will post so we can put the info in the tech section or something. Seems like this is a common question on this board and others, but I have not been able to find out what size it is.
