New Trail Ride Saturday, August 12th

Wally wants to flex his KJ some more.

Who = You
What = Jeepin'
Where = Meet at the Denny's off I-15 and Main Street in Hesperia. Doing an easy to moderate trail up White Mountain to Big Bear. Then in BB, decide where to go from there.
When = Saturday, August 12th. 9am for an all day trail.
Why = Because we can.

Is White Mountain open? I head that some trails were closed due to the fires a few weeks ago. I am not familair with White Mountain. Where is it at?

So meeting time is 9:00 AM or is that the departure time? :lol:

I am available to run on Saturday, but not Sunday.

Is anyone opposed to me posting this on another site? (The NAXJA site)

Where is White Mountain? Is there another name for it? What is the difficulty rating? Is there an alternative meeting spot for those that would be coming from Orange and San Diego counties? I have a few other XJ'ers interested in running, can they join us?

Robert...White Mountain is in the Hesperia area..I will have a map of the area after the weekend, there really is no better meeting spot as the trail head is within a few miles of the Dennys on Main St....and we would welcome anyone to run with us, they will have to sign release forms, but I'm sure Naxja members are used to that anyways. The Trail is easy to moderate..I havn't run it since before Xmas last year so I don't know what kind of shape its in now..it does have some great views and you get up to some pretty high elevations...well I hope this helps...later...Wally

Thanks Wally. I may reconsider this run. I think I want to ru something a little more difficult. My new springs need more breeaking in!

I am thinking of going back up to Big Bear and running Deep Creek, John Bull, or Holcomb Creek again. I will let you know for sure by middle of next week.

White Mountain is rated by the Forest Service as black diamond, most difficult. There's probably only one section that deserves that rating and it's optional: Suicide Hill. They rate them according to the toughest part of the trail, otherwise people would start out and not be prepared for the difficulty.

The bulk of the trail is moderate to easy, as Wally said; it's scenic and let's you see an entirely different view of things. I don't know if they're still there but there were flowers growing by the trail this year that seldom bloom.

Thanks! That actually helps me alot. This may be a perfect run to have my wife drive!

I have yet to find time to go get a spare tire to replace the one I sliced up in Big Bear. If I can't then I'll have to pass on this one. With my luck I'd pull a Jeff and never live it down :shock:

Just need to know if I will need to have tow points and such set up? Still stock and no hook ups yet

yes sat the 12th....tow points are recomended..also a good set of tires..there are a few rocky sections that will eat up tires pretty good...so a good set of ATs or MTs are recomended also...not really necessary to be lifted but it would help, but if you want to go..I would work on tow points this week...thanks...Wally
