I know that most of the guts that I wheel with is running on the Rusty 2.5 coil lift. I am going to order my lift this week and I have $800 to spend. The original plan is to go with the Rustys and put the rest towards some new tires, but I can get the Skyjacker and let the wife buy my tires for my birthday. What do you consider the best lift for the money. Frankenlift is $750 and with this lift the same applies as the skyjacker.

The guys that have used or seen just about every lift for the KJ will tell you Frankenlift.

Get more info here. http://www.boulderbars.com/kjproducts.htm

I have No complaints w/ my Frankenlift. Rides better than stock and soaks up the bumps.

I love my Rusty's and will say I think it's the best bang for your buck. I've wheeled with it a number of times to date and it's been great. On road the ride is better than it was stock. .However if you're happy to pay another $300 or so for the lift and want the BEST, then go Frankenlift.

Save your cash for the "rumored new lift" and get the armor now....

I almost wish I had done that, but that would be almost 2 years for me without any lift at all- I don't think I would have had the willpower lol.

If I was doing in again, I would get Rusty's springs and struts (Old Man Emu) and get Rancho rear shocks. Rusty's rear shocks don't fit right and make noise. I love the lift but it makes noise.

As far as noise goes, None here. Ive had my rusty's suspension lift for over 6 months and 20k later( no noises).

It's not very obvious noise. It's little squeaking sound coming from the rear. You will not hear it if the window is down (wind noise overpowers it). You'll hear it if your cabin is quiet. It's more evident when your KJ is jolted side to side. Up and down doesn't seem to do it, for me.

From what I've read this seems pretty common with Rusty's shocks. The bushings and/or sleeves must not be quite the right size. A pair of Ranchos would fix you right up.

Thanks for all the input. It seems that the leading lifts are The Rustys and Frankenlift, so I ordered the Skyjacker part #LIB250 which does not come with the rear springs instead it has the pucks. As far as shocks go I am going to stay with the stock for the moment but I am going to relocate the bottom mounting because I can see that thing being ripped off. If I want the rear springs latter on then I will pay the difference between the two lifts. I hashed all the details out with someone that I trust and came to the conclusion that this is a good route. I will submitt pics after sat.
Chris

Ah, yeah. Glad we could help?.?. :? The best part of the Skyjacker kit is the rear coils.

Just be careful and check that your ball joints don't hit the springs under full droop. If so you may tear them up. I would think about rigging some limiting straps in that case. This is one of the reasons I went with Rusty's. That and my skyjacker lift on an XJ was the worst thing I ever did to a Jeep.

I am going to be working with JeepinAl very closely with this lift and we are going to modify as necessary. I know there has been a problem with ball joint contact on a lift that gives a true 3" of lift so we are going to take all precautions to make this a great lift. I did have serious thoughts about purchasing the frankinlift because of the high recommendations, but I know little about this lift and I know that the skyjacker has been to MOAB and back with no problems.

The Frankenlift has been everywhere and then some when compared to the Skyjacker. The KJ West guys have tested this lift like none other.

I had the entire Skyjacker lift before I removed it in favor of the Frankenlift. I am VERY HAPPY that I did. Any ball joint issues are very easily dealt with on the Frankenlift.

I like the red color of the the Skyjacker and that's about it. Whatever floats your boat though. As long as you're happy that's all that matters. Congrats on the new lift.

Don't know that I am happy yet. Gonna have and try it out, and then I will know.
