"Wing Commander Andy Green, who is based at Wittering, near Peterborough, broke the land speed record for diesel powered vehicles yesterday, averaging a speed of 328.767 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats in the US."

Tidbtis from the article:

He was the first guy to drive faster than the speed of sound while still on the gorund too, 763 mph! That is scary fast...

And his GPS couldn't keep up with the cars speed, pretty funny. Bet Garmin didn't factor that into their trials.

I'd love to see BANKS smash that record. Doesn't seem like it would be much of a challenge for Banks since those diesels were only putting out 750hp. He just needs to find some big name sponser to foot the bill.....

There are some truck pull guys getting 1000hp  out of 5.9 cummins.

They towed their spare parts in with the record-breaking truck. Now that's kicking sand in the face of your competitor! And 217 mph ain't nothing to sneeze at with a street legal (if impractical) truck. 328 mph is faster, but he was driving a tube, for crying out loud.

They have been stomping stupid with their TDI V8 diesel in the American Le Mans racing series. Both their cars carry the 1 and 2 numbers from last year.
They showed them drag racing a Harrier Jump Jet on a runway and winning. Not really a fair race since it was a Harrier.
