They're not free, but they are a dang good price. I'm just going to have rent one from Budget for a week (better get the extra insurance.) :D

When everything is a go, how about you give a total package deal, sliders, front and rear bumpers, and diff cover.

So the rear bumpers will be ready by the end of the year. I maybe interested in one if I decide to keep the KJ. I was thinking of trading it in on a 06 Unlimited, but if I dont get what I want on the trade I am just going to keep it and start to really mod it (bumpers, locker, etc).

Rock Lizard. Would it be possible to tie a plate/mount into the engine skid plate somehow. I am not asking you to change it and do that I just want your opinion on the possibility of such a thing. From the pics it seems like it wouldnt be too hard. DarbyWalters mentioned this in another thread and I liked the idea.

What do you think?

Are you talking about a separate plate that can be bolted to the bottom part of the bumper and to the front skid/cradle? Sure, it could be done, but IMHO, I just think it is a little extra that is not worth the extra amount of $$, and it would completely close off the area that you need to squeeze your arm into to put the pin in the front hitch. As I mentioned in another thread, While testing these bumpers on the fourth most difficult trail in Colorado, Ted beat the living crap out of the front bumper, and the biggest thing that I was very happy with, was when he back up off a boulder that he was hung up on, and the boulder skid down the belly pan, down the cradle, off the lower arms/front skid, right onto the lower plate of the front bumper and slid all the way to the hitch. The bumper did exactly as it was designed to do. The idea for a complete skid is good, but I just don't think the very little extra protection would be worth the extra cost. I do appreciate the input and suggestions, they are definately considered during R&D and I try to take the best ideas and make the best product as if the customers designed the product themselves.

The real benefit to having a cover for the area from the radiator support to the front skid plate would be to prevent snow/mud/water from being pushed up into the engine compartment/fan.

I am having a local fab shop make one for me. I will take it off when not off road to get the extra air flow into the engine compartment.

The first batch of rear bumpers will be finished in Mid/late September. I only have one available in the first batch at the prepay price that isn't already paid for. It will be about 6-8 weeks for the next batch of rear bumpers after that.

Please don't take this the wrong way, as with anything relating to aesthetics, it's highly personal. I like your rear bumper (which is why I ordered it), but for front bumper, I much prefer the TJM one. It follows the curves of the Liberty better. I realize that it's hard to do this when you're cutting the steel yourself (or have a factory do it) ... and besides, you already have the design of your front bumper worked out and it's probably much too late in the game to change plan.

However, if you do manage to come up with something roundish, not angular, I know where my money will go :)

Rock LIzards current front bumper is for the `02-04 models, not the `05-06 which you have. I am not passing judgement on the TJM model until I see the model for my `04, because the current one they have is for the `05-06 models and not the `02-04 models. Remember, there is a significant difference in those model years.

Nothing wrong with constructive critism. I'm still working on the front design, and just not 100% sure the current direction with it. I would like to keep it so it is similar to current design, but what I might do is use a wrong die in the brake instead of a sharp die, which should help tone down the sharp angles and blend it better. I have a pretty good idea on what I am doing with the signal lights as well, so you won't have to see those ugly trailer lights pointing up at the sky. I think you guys will like the new design. That first prototype was something thrown together real quick off an original design plan, so it still has a long ways to go for the final model design.

I am heading to Belize on Friday for 6 days if you want to borrow mine, I just don't know how and when I would get down to the Springs. Also my wife's uncle is moving down there if a few weeks, so we will be spending more time down there.

Oh! Mid to late September is a long ways from the original early August. What's the chance it will slip again?

But encouraged by your idea to smooth down the front bumper.

Personally I like the angled look of your bumpers, thats why i can't wait for you to get the out! It gives the KJ a meaner and more hardcore look to it.

To each is his own.

The bumpers will still have the same look and angles, but the bends will be a little more rounded and subtle instead of the sharp bends.

No matter what you have in store I know it is gonna be, in the words of Peter Griffin, "Frickin' Sweet!"

Sorry for the dissappointing news. I wish I could move things faster, but 16 hours a day, 6 days a week, working by myself, I'm doing the best I can. My manufacturer that cuts and forms the pieces are slammed with other company orders as well, so I was actually surprised they gave me a date on Thursday about three weeks out, instead of the eight weeks they originally told me last Monday.

Don't kill yourself over it  That kind of work schedule is better left for younger guys working in video games industry.

Here is a just a little more detail about the updated design, atleast on the 02-04 model. The brake points will be done with more of a rounded die instead of a sharp die, so the angles will be the same, but more subtle. The thing about the signals is this. I was thinking about frenching the trailer style lights in to point a little more forward instead of up, but that was going to be a pain. The other thing was trying to figure out how to incorporate the stock lights, but that was a pain too. So, the new plan is to have the trailer light mounted inside the housing, with holes/slots cut in the signal housing so the light is gaurded but can be angled to shine more forward instead of up, thus giving a much cleaner, meaner look, and a lot easier to build. Yes, I am talking similar to the TR bumper, but Rock Lizard style.:D There will also be a few more holes in the lower skid piece to look more uniform and help with airflow, even though airflow has not been an issue whatsoever with the current prototype.

No kidding. I'm trying to make things more efficient. The wife went part time at her job last week to help me with the office work and to help with the kids, since I was the stay at home dad while running this business, so I am getting more free time to work in the shop instead of being stuck behind the desk so much. I need some Oompa Loompas or something that will work for beans.:D Sorry, just watched that new Chocolate Factory remake and thought Willie had it made with all that cheap labor.
