Sounds like what you folks looking for a drain plug need to to put two holes in the cover, then mount a pump, install a filter to catch those little metal shavings, and, oh, a cooler too - that might be nice....

Why don't you just spray paint the Dupi-color truck bed coating on the diff cover. You can reapply when it scrapes off pretty easily. THats what I do with my Dana 44 diff covers on my LJ. Seems to work pretty good. Cheap too.

OK, didn't get ahold of my supplier today, but I did send an email with a bunch of questions. I'm not taking any money until I actually get ahold of one of these and double check everything. I have heard that the cover is 3/8", but the actual ring that bolts to the housing is 1/2". If that is the case, I am going to see if the mounting holes can be countersunk and the covers supplied with allen head bolts, like how Poison Spider does their rock rings. I also asked about powdercoat and a drain plug. As soon as I hear something back, which should be tomorrow, I will update you guys. As for the appearance of the welds, I guess it just depends who is on the welder for the day. They are welded inside and out, so ugly or not, these covers aren't coming apart. And, if the welds aren't pretty enough, it isn't had to grind them down (if you have a grinder). :D

Also, I was talking to someone, or read something, (sorry can't remember, too much going on, poor short term memory), but someone asked about putting an HD steel cover on the front diff, and maybe that would help strengthen/reinforce the aluminum housing. I'm not familiar enough with what is in the front, so I don't know if that would help, or just move the weak point to somewhere else. My supplier does make covers for IFS Toyotas, so I will ask some questions about how those work.

I think the comment was "how about a replacement front diff made entirely of steel." You know, we here always try to ask for WAY more than we know is reasonable, just in case the answer is yes. :P

I talked to my supplier today. I know you guys asked for some things to be changed or added, but these diff covers are not my products, they are from another company. So, I talked to the owner and he is going to build the 8.25 diff cover with the 1/2" ring instead of the 3/8" ring, the holes will be countersunk so stock hex bolts don't get bashed up on rocks, and he is going to put a drain plug in them. Price will be a little more, but I don't think it will be anywhere near $180 like other companies. He is going to punch some numbers and get back with me on the actual price. Once he builds one, I will get it on a KJ to make sure everything is going to work out perfectly, then we will get these things going.

This is why I ask you guys for your input on products, because you are the customers that will be using a product, so the product should be built the way you would like it. Sometimes things are unreasonable, but there are ways to improve. Even if it isn't my product, if it is something I think you guys would benefit from, I will do everything in my power to work with the other company to improve upon a great design. I will update this when I get prices and pictures of the new design.

Good stuff on keeping us updated there Rock Lizard :!: Your last paragraph says alot about you and your company! A lot of places could learn from how you do business as far as taking customer consideration into designing your products. Kudos to you and your crew! I will definetly be doing business with you in the near future not just because of the rep you guys have, or the quality of products you produce, but because of the actual concern yous guys have for your customers! :D

Rock Lizard, I must say its awesome what you are doing with the lost members! Other jeeps may have more aftermarket products, but I can guarantee they do not have people like we do here. 8)

Marty, will he still offer the basic design for ~$100-110?

I was wanting to ask the same thing but felt bad because you pretty much got everyone what they wanted, but I think you will sell more if you can offer both. It will be interesting to see which ones go faster.

I'm also looking for diff cover that already has a drain plug. All the ones I find don't have it. Anyone know where I can find one, with the drain plug?

I have only had my '06 liberty for a couple of months now, but have been looking at diff covers. The pml cover holds more fluid to help keep it all cool, and that sounded good to me(as well as the drain plug). Do you think the fluid capacity will be some what similar to stock, or will hold more? Anyways, I am very interested..... :)

The PML cover will not fit with the stock gas tank skid plate on unless you pay about $75 extra and above the cost of the cover to have the fins milled off of it. Also, being all aluminum, if you roll backwards into something, kiss that cover goodbye. Just run the MOPAR full synthetic (of aftermarked equivalent) 75W-140 gear lube in the rear diff. That will keep things running nice, and from what I understand, somewhat cooler.

Well I want one of these covers, drain plug or not. I do like the sound of a thicker ring and recessed bolts though...
