Here is some info I found on the 6-speed manual transmission used on 2005 and up 3.7 L KJ's along with some crawl ratios I calculated for various rear differential ratios.

Found this on the NSG 370 Close Ratio 6-speed Manual Transmission:

Gear Ratios for the 6-Speed Transmission:

1st-4.46:1
2nd-2.61:1
3rd-1.72:1
4th-1.25:1
5th-1:1
6th-0.84:1

This means with the 2.72:1 NP241J Command-Trac transfer case and a 3.55 differential ratio we have a Crawl Ratio of 43:1 in first gear!

Jeep Liberty 6-Speed Manual Transmission Crawl Ratios

With 3.55 differentials - 43.1:1 crawl ratio
With 3.73 differentials - 45.2:1 crawl ratio
With 4.10 differentials - 49.7:1 crawl ratio

These are quite respectable for a stock vehicle. Note: these ratios do not take tire size into account...a larger tire lessens the effect of a higher crawl ratio.

If you could swap in the Rubicon's NV241 Rock-Trac transfer case you would have a crawl ratio of 63.3:1 !

Where can i find the maximum weight the hinges on the back swing gate will hold? I have been looking but no luck? I want to build a equipment rack to hold highlift, gas/water tanks, etc... If I pulled the tire I should gain a lot. It has to be listed somewhere. Can you help????

I know, use the search function... I did. Anyway, I'm looking for the part number of the studs that hold the struts to the frame. I saw a pdf file of everything somewhere but, I can't find it now. help?

eh, nvm, I'll just find some bolts at work to fit. I'm sure we have something that should be more than sufficient. I would like to know where that pdf of the schematics is, though.

It is necromency night here on LOST.

The NSG370 that attaches to the 3.7L in the Dakota & Ram 1500 is the wide ratio, with a 5.01 first gear.

The NSG370 that attached to the 4.0L in the Wrangler is the close ratio (4.46 first) described above.

The 3.7/4.7/5.7/6.1/3.9/5.2/5.9 share the classic Mopar small block bellhousing bolt pattern and the 4.0 has the classic AMC bolt pattern.

The article attached doesn't talk about a wide ratio unit even though it is standard equipment in other Chrysler products with the 3.7. I have read elsewhere and still believe that the KJ probably has the wide ratio NSG370 like all of the other NSG370's attached to 3.7L's ( like the Dakota & Ram) while the AMC-patterned close ratio tranny was used on the 4.0. This also makes sense to get the V6 into the slightly higher RPM where it makes the best power vs. the lower rpm range of the I6.

If so, a stock 6spd KJ with 225/75/r16's would then have a very nice 48.2 crawl ratio. That is better than a stock automatic TJ Rubi @ 46.58.
