Would you also consider fabbing a up a rear one as well?

A rear prerunner style bumper would be very sweet. I might even be more interested in that than the front bumper. Finally, more and more options for the KJ.

First of all, I am really impressed with the amount of interest and in such little time I have received with this post.

This front bumper will be a complete replacement front bumper. Their will be sufficient space to mount a winch, will have two D shackles for clevis pins and a full skid plate extending to the cross member. I will probably have an option for a 2” receiver and maybe one for a “stinger” type top tube. The bumper will be made out of 3/16” plate and 1 ¾” DOM tube.

In the future (near) I will also fab a rear bumper with a tire carrier with options for a hi-lift mount, jerry cans, and maybe a “wilderness rack”.

Look for photos coming soon. And again thanks for the feedback.

I am interested and have been looking real hard at this one for its clean look.

Claimed weight is 85-90 lbs and weight does play into the buying decision so I would be very interested to know what "well under 100 lbs." ends up at.

Relocation of the washer is no big deal IMO, lets see pics of a prototype on a Liberty, I am curious how raw it will look with the tube and no plates.

maybe having some diamond plate to fill in some of the gaps on the side portions would look sweet... as an option of course

Looking forward to seeing the proto. THis style of bumper has been thought of before but I have yet to see anyone tackle the project and finish it.

Would that replace the engine skid or extend down to it?

BTW, the bumper pictured is made by Smittybilt for the wranglers. I think Smittybilt makes brush guards for the KJ though.

Look for threads posted by Rock Lizard regarding the front bumper. There should be a pic or two of naked KJ's.

Whatever happened to the guy that was taking a wrecked KJ and rebuilding it? He had a lot of pictures of the KJ with no bumper.....or anything else for that matter. I know it was on the old server but did it make it over here or is he still on here?

The skid will extend to the front-most edge of the engine skid. i am figuring out the exact attachment method, ie: weld-on, cantaleverd, bolt to factory skid mounting holes, etc. depends on how "permanent" you guys want it. the easy way would be to have a sleave with a plate that gets welded to the crossmember ( do-it-yourselfers or at a mufler shop).

I think that a mount like this would be good: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=101628&highlight=#101628

Thanks to kjHawaii for these pics (some nakid ones as well  )

orm,

If you design a the rear anything like the one on http://www.offroadtechinc.com it would be frickin SWEET! I also like the front too but minus the over zealous stinger bar.

I’m defiantly interested in this front and not to mention the hopefully nice matching rear bumpers. Like everyone else I’ll sit back and wait for the much anticipated pictures. I definitely don’t like the idea of having to relocate anything. But we’ll see what it looks like, maybe if enough people voice their opinion about this their can be changes made. 8)
