Hopefully this is in the right section.

My interior lights (dome lights front and back) have been coming on lately. The 04 will be parked, doors locked, interior lights were not left on and fade off when the doors lock, and then randomly throughout the night, they turn on. If pull on the rear gate handle (doors locked), it shuts them off. It is not a huge problem, but I have had some people say things to me, and I am afraid it is going to kill my battery. Let me know if yall know anything before I take it in and get raped by the dealer. I would much rather know what is going on and take it to my shop or fix it myseld.

Thanks,

Scott

it sounds like the rear gate, isn't closing all the way or the switch in the rear gate is shorting out, and the jeep thinks the rear gate is open.

I'd be more inclined to a short, because both times I went out and checked on it when someone mentioned it to me, it was completely shut. It might not be isolated to this area either. That is the only handle anyone has pulled on to make it turn off. The other doors could work too.

I still have no idea what it is. For now, when I get out, I just turn my interior lights off, but I would love to figure it out. I might say something about it when I take it in for the current recall.

Mine has done that a hand full of times too! I have found I can walk up to it with the remote and push unlock / lock and the lights will go out. I figured it was a glitch in the body control module. I even made an appointment at the dealer once, but I never took it in because I couldn't recreate the problem so I know they wouldn't fix it anyway. If anyone finds the fix please post it.
