Does anyone know what radio codes have RDS and if there is a correlation with RDS units also having the dot matrix display vs the vacuum florescent?

I know the RBQ and RAZ have RDS but there may be others. I don't care for the Pioneer unit that is in the Libby we just bought and want to swap it for an OEM radio with RDS.

The RB1 and RB4 both have RDS as well.

I started up a table to compare the models that I know work in the Liberty:

Please feel free to add what you know to the table.

Thats a great link, I did find a RAZ unit from another LOST member and will be installing that with an XM Direct unit.
While the XM Direct will work on an RBK it functions much better with an RDS capable radio.

edit I have not confirmed that however I am looking at a 2001 RAZ in a Dakota with "no" RDS and vacuum florescent display while my wifes 2003 PT Cruiser with RAZ and RDS has the dot matrix display. So its possible RDS units are also dot matrix.

Matt400, which version of XMDirect are you using? If you're using the version the utilizes an FM transmitter then RDS will allow you to view song and artist names on RDS enabled radios. However, if you're using the version that plugs into the CD changer port than I think RDS won't help you, as RDS data is only transmitted over FM.

I had plugged in the above XM direct unit a couple years ago to my Rams 05 RDS deck just for a quick look before installing it in another vehicle and if I remember correctly it should work like this:
In XM mode- The Tune button will alternate between artist, song title, & channel rather than changing channel like when using FM. Instead the Scan button tunes channels, up or down while in XM mode. This was direct plug-n-play with no FM transmitter.

The XM product I checked out got installed to an RBK with no RDS and I found it would not show artist or song title.

A lesser expensive XM Direct unit I also found here:
http://www.myradiostore.us/xm-radio-rec ... hy100.html
and looks like the same unit.

I should have my RAZ with RDS by the end of the week so maybe on the weekend I will be able to confirm it all.

I'm thinking it's probably only RDS radios that can display artist/song info because they are the only radios that have the ability to display text.

A slight mix up on the head units as I received an RBP thinking it was a RAZ but not much difference because the RBP I did get has RDS.

Correct on that about RDS displaying text. They say the XM direct will only work on RDS units but I know for sure it works on non RDS as long as it is Satellite ready. The only thing with non RDS units is you won't get artist name, title or station name...just the station number and you have to copy down the XM serial number on the case before mounting because you won't be able to bring that up on the display for subscriptions.

I did confirm this evening that on the RDS unit it works like this:
In XM mode- The Tune button will alternate between artist, song title, & channel rather than changing channel like when using FM. Instead the Scan button tunes channels, up or down while in XM mode.
