My 05 has select-trac and the trac-lok diff, so from that you should be able to find an 05 Renny or older w/ select. Someone correct me if I`m wrong and if I am, need to check my build sheet again.... :?

TracLok is an LSD. I've been looking for lockers, and I thought I've seen an astrix on each of them about not being for full-time 4wd systems...

I don't think selectrac can really be seen as a true full time system, it's a selectable transfer case with 2wd, full-time, part-time and low range with no computer interference. I can imagine what a locker would do to a true full time system like Quaradrive II where the computer is trying to fight against the locker.

How would the computer and the locker work against each other?
This is not the first time this has been discussed, but I'm still not 100% sure of the correct answer. :D

the light bar only comes with the 28D pkg.

the dealers are stupid when it comes to pkgs. they only know what the vin# deciphers as.

the light kit purchased @ dealer was 475 installed 1 day installation.

make sure you get the TOW pkg. (hd cooling 2 fans 1 elect 1 mech)
make sure you get the SKID plate group as well.
automatic is sweet even better with VLP tranny option.
command trac is fine shift on fly when in need.
with the towing pkg i believe it upgrades tires & put the rear at 3.73 gearing as well.
NO regets but finding a 06 rene this late in the year
with all the options & color of your choice starts getting real tough....

Why is that??? I've been on autotrader.com for the last 2 days and have found over atleast 20 06' Rennys that I would definitly be interested in. I'm not necessarily interested in an 06', and if I find an 03/04/05 I definitly wouldn't hesitate in getting it if it has what I'm looking for.

I believe everyone is confused about this select-trac and a locker. All select trac is, is a differential in the transfer case. It allows the front and rear wheels to spin as they please. I have a locker and have no problems what so ever with it.

Also, someone brought the QD system up in the grands. All that is, is a electronically controlled Limited slip. It has one in the front and rear diffs along with the transfer case. So that means if you put a locker in them, it would take the QD system out and replace it.

Right the only difference between slect-trac full time 4WD and Command-trac part time 4WD is that in part time the center diff (xfer case) is locked, in full time the center diff is open.

there was only two 06 4x4 renegades out the 15-20 so california dealers with the options & color we were looking for
todays business section sandeigo report chrysler halting 06 production on 16 lines of vehicles to avoid
large inventories.
IF you in california & you want new.. pickings are lean unless you settle for whatever.

Hmm..you people out west are different. Here in Indiana...there are no shortage on Libbys...I've seen plenty of them for sale. I'm just looking for something I like..in the end it may not really matter as long as the price is right..but I would like it to be a renegade or a limited. I'm not really seeing any of the other editions like the Rocky Moutain. I've only seen renegades and limiteds, and of course sports. I just want a khaki, blue, or black, under 50,000 miles, renegade or limited w/ a light bar. I'll end up putting a frankenlift and different tires later on...

I've found over 450 vehicles on autotrader.com 03 or newer and 3/4 of them were Limited or Renegades. :P

I'm probably going to see a few in the coming week/weekends if not this weekend. I'm pretty happy so far. Can't wait to get mine!! :o

From what I hear the biggest deal about installing it is the fear of drilling the holes in your roof in the wrong spot.

I bought the lightbar over the summer for my 03 KJ SPORT. It is kinda scary to think about drilling the holes in your roof. If you look at the directions, and measure over and over again, it will come out awsome. It took me about 3 or 4 hours with the whole job. I took my time and did the job rite........
PS.....DON"T FORGET THE RVT SEALER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Just as inportant and where to drill the holes.
After I drilled out the holes, I took primer sprey paint to paint the open metel to keep it from rust. Then I used RVT sealer around the nutzerts. Keeps the water out...

Very nice looking KJ..the light bar makes it look even better!! Thanks for that information..if I do it I may just end up having the dealer install it for me. I ended up finding an 04 Black Columbia Sport 4X4 with 35,000 on it...I think I may have found my KJ. We may go see it this weekend...I'm stoked!!! :P

Jeep Dawg,

When you put on that roof basket, did you have to drill holes in your rails? I just bought that basket myself for my '02 renegade and the guy I'm buying it from thinks that I may have to drill my rails. I inspected my rails and I don't have any pre-drilled holes.

I always thought that most mopar parts avoided the need for drilling during installation, unless you're installing a light bar such as yourself.

No new holes, the basket clamps to the existing rails. Make sure you got the clamps with the basket. But beware, the front edges of the basket's arms will wear through the paint on your roof where they make contact (even if the don't when standing still, they will at speed). I put clear contact vinyl under the edges of mine when I saw the damage.
