Hey folks, i know you are probably tired of my powertrax issue and I understand.

I think I'm at the root of the horrid cracking I get, and NO, you probably won't get the same with the Corp axle. Thus the diff of opinions and I apologize.

Here it is: I have found after jacking and testing, and wat-not, that dana 35 is just plain flemsy (crap)! The tube flex (play) that happens is causing unwanted effects(massive engage/disengage noise) with the No-slip and causing all the noise.

I tied to get the 8.25 corp to flex like that and it don't

I have also found that in sucession my problems have increased from 80/90 lube, to 75/140 syn, adding a tube of friction mod, then another tube.

It looks like the more modifiers I add the more the device sticks adding to the problem of engage/disengage...I thought that stuff just made it slicker not have a glue effect.

I've cleaned it out and will go back to regular 80/90 in the morning.

I tried to see about getting a tru-trac for 8.25 corp but they are on hold for a few weeks pending a modification to make the c-clips fit better.

Thanks for listening...Sorry to have bad mouthed no-slip so much...you folks with regular axles are lucky.

I'll be swappin soon.

You might look at naxja.org for an 8.25 axle. Guys are always getting rid of them. I just picked up one off a 2001 XJ with LSD for $100. Just post a query and see what comes back. Should be an easy swap.

Hey Folks,

I drained my axle, cleaned it out with solvent and refilled it with 80/90 on the advice of a shop.

I've driven it for 3 days hard off road and parking lots and the noise is gone...I've had 1 light click only.

Hope this last. Maybe it was the friction additive causing the device to stick after all. because it really was like honey???

Do not use an 8 1/4 from any other jeep. The tone ring in the the KJ 8 1/4 is not alike all the other 8 1/4... and you have to use it for the speed sensor to work right...for the computer to work right and for your KJ to keep running. Just wanted to be sure you dont rush out and pick up another 8 1/4 from anything else. later...clint

Thanks Buddy,

If this better operation keeps up, I'll scratch the project. It is really doing well after cleaning and fluid change.

the ford 8.8 will bolt right on the KJ too and its my responsibility to get the right device for the axle.

Your advice was fine...Thanks

Now that I think about it an 8.8 might just work. it also has the tone ring and I am not even using it in the ZJ. I have a ford 8.8 in our ZJ. Great rear end... 31 spine (44 is 30 spline) with flange mount and rear disk brakes.. HUH... never though about it in a KJ but might just work with a few mounting mods.

Just FYI. I know we are starting to see the KJ in the salavge yards here in So-Cal so if you are looking for a rear end or something it shoudl not be a problem.

I know that jpzkj just saw a KJ a few weekends back that was hit from the front. the front was trashed but the rear end was still good. Hope that helps. Later...Clint
