I was wondering what the most dependable and cheapest way to lift my jeep would be, my drivers side rear spring has developed some sag, and my shocks are all showing some age, so I was thinking about getting a little lift, while I replace these, maybe only 1.5-2 inches, and would like everyones opinion on the best way to obtain this, Im kind of a poor college student so cost is a major factor especially since i need new tires by winter.

Thanks, Craig.

I don't want this to sound bad...but there are quite a few threads in the first two pages about lifts...just kinda page down a little. :P

A spacer lift is going to be the cheapest. You could just get the .75" front spacer from Rusty's and bump up the clevis about .5"...you would net around 2"...then buy a 2" rear spacer and some longer shocks.

If you are adding some new shock and struts, I'd through in some new springs. OME springs are about 120 a pair and give 1.5-2" of lift.

If your springs are already starting to sag, and shocks are worn then I would replace all of them. No use doing it halfway. I know what you mean about $$$$$ but with the OME springs and replacing the struts/shocks you would have the lift, better ride, they will last longer than stock all good points. If you do go OME use the HDs or at least I like them a lot

If you are short on money, get the OME HD coils and rancho front and rear shocks. The ome Front and rear shocks is what makes the OME lift so expensive. You would gain alot of flex on the rear with the rancho shocks too. :)

Check out rustys for the OME coils. They had/ may still have a sale on ome Coils.

https://rustysoffroad.com/Merchant2/mer ... sus_kj_par

They have the HD rear coils and Medium front, which is what I have and love the setup. It does sit nose down though. If you got the HD front, you may get alittle more lift on the front. You can get everything you need from All J's or buy the rear coils from Rustys to save some money. With shipping from two different places, it may end up being alittle more. Do some shopping and see what would be the cheapest.

What size tires do you plan on getting? I have the 255/70/16 and get some rubbing. I could beat the pinch weld over and cut on the fenders some, but Ill just live with it. Scares the crap out of me sometimes though.

EDIT: Just noticed that you have an 02(which is higher than all other libbys). You will not get 1.5-2" of lift but instead will only get around .5-1"!! I hope you knew this. :?

Yeah, Rusty's has the ome hd and medium duty both for $100 a pair, and rancho shocks you can get anywhere. As for tire size, I might just go with 245/70/16, or the 255/70/16, havent made my decesion yet, and i still have a few weeks to think about it. Oh yea, how much power loss do you think you have from the 255's?

Well, I also got the cragars and I think they are taking alot of power away b/c they weigh so much. Its fine in the city or anywhere its flat, but on the way back to school I hit alot of hills and could tell a HUGE difference. It downshifted alot more than it did before and it was hard to pass cars on hills. I wasent happy with it at all. :?

Im still thinking about selling them. I just cannot make up my mind since they are awesome offroad and look crazy awesome on the jeep. 8)

Have you installed the new springs and shocks yet? Are you getting new front struts as well?

Havent quite saved up enough yet, hopefully will have it done by November, I do plan on replacing the struts too. One question thats been running through my mind though, I think I read some where that the struts are a pain in the butt to compress, so will I need to take them in to a shop or could a rental strut compressor do it?

From what I've read here, it's really cheap just to have a shop install the spring onto the strut.

I had the same issue when I went with MT classic lock wheels and the Trxux 265 75 16 32" tires. After three months I am now use to the lowered acceleration and higher braking effort to stop. My prob now is rubbing due to the ARB and winch on
a skyjacker (now sagging and a blown stut) 2.5 inch lift.

What is the offset of the craiger wheels? I was supprised to find out my wheels have 2 inches more backspacing than stock .

Robert
