I agree with getting the bumper to match the flairs, and after you get things worked out I would like to see some serious testing, as in "lets see if we can break it" kind of testing.

Looks great ORM! A little thicker tubing, and a bit more blending to the fender flares maybe....otherwise awesome....keep the tabs for the lights....very good. :D

BTW.......is there still plans for adding the skid plate to it??

Also....nice work...it looks well built and clean!

I also agree about the ends extending out to match the flares, other then that it is perfect! I love the grey color to match the flares as well. did I see 3 light tabs!?

BTW, on your first pic I see a set of lights up by the window. How did you do that, got any more pics of that!?

I generally like it but there would need to be some modifications to my '06 Limited to make it work.

My turns are not on the flare but on the bumper and if I cut the bumper there is virtually nothing to keep this small piece holding on to the flare as most of the connecting points are low on the bumper and that high up it is just held there with a clip on the flare and plastic rivets on the fender well skirt.

I'm really digging that bumper. A great look for my Renegade. I also would like the ends to extend on out to the edge of the flare. Also, is there room on the end plate for a small pop in lamp like tractor trailers use to retain the extra lamp down in the bumper? If not, the plate could easily be made a little larger for this purpose to keep it more legal looking. Also, I like the tube with no backing plate. It's easy to hide whatever is behind the bumper with some flat black paint as this has been the standard in the automotive industry for more years than most of us have been alive. Perhaps a slightly larger main tube would lend it a beefier look also. Definitely an excellent prototype with great design and from the pics, good attention to detail and craftsmanship. I'm looking forward to seeing more on this, thanks for posting.

I really think that tube style bar suits the KJ well. Couple of my thoughts.

> Tube used should be 2" & Powdercoat for final finish
(2" tube will also hide a bit more of the KJ's background behind the bar)
> Bottom tube should be inline with the lowest point of the KJ's front (pressed metal) face/bumper support
> Wings should come out another 1-1.5" per side.
> Option to put on a front IFS angled bash plate to bolt to bottom edge of lower tube
> 2 tabs should be welded on loop over bar for spot light mounts and one smaller tab for antenna mount

Good luck with proto no# 2 !

Did you cut the original bumper cover to include the turn signal part? Why not just separate the entire cover and turn signals....and include a rear base plate to house or hold the turn signals.....plus I agree with the base plating for the entire bumper added underneath to not only cover up the underside body metal but also to protect it a bit.

I am really impressed though how clean it came out.....great proto! :D

Looks great. I appreciate that it looks like nothing else. I wuold also agree with 2 more span/supports and a backing plate to hide the unibody.

Looks great, wonder how the lights for the 02 model will work out, Changes i agree with most bring it out a little further on each side to match the flares, Cept i would turn the tubes up just a bit to fill the gap between the turn signal and the top bar, bend the top bar up to match the fender flare and then have the bottom bar extend up to meet the side plate. How would a winch be mounted looks kinda tight between the grille and the bar. love the reciever hitch, and the light tabs could we get some on the top of the hoop? for the 02 you think it would look to funny to extend the hoop up further like a stinger bar? $$$ will determine if i can buy, i agree with what someone said about black paint but backing plates would look good too may even provide a place to put turn signals on the 02 models.

ab2,

I think it is great you made that, but what many of us would want to do is remove the front plastic bumper cover so we can have more approach angle. Your design leaving the stock bumper on does not change/improve approach angle.

I think some members would like to have a bull bar that does not require the removal on the stock bumper/turn lights/side markers. Easy to install and take off...nice job. Looks like you get to keep the stock washer bottle ect. and small air dam for drag purposes. Probably sould make it strong enuff for a winch if it tied into the holes in the bumper(bottom side) for the tow hooks. Good Job!

I was thinking of a setup using the Hidden Hitch as one attachment point and the tow hook location as the other two. Then you would not be running tubes under the KJ at all. Mine woould slide in the hitch and then attach again at both tow hook locations under the bumper.

ill try to answer as many questions as i can. like i said befor this is the first-run prototype and i am trying to make this apeel to the masses. please keep in mind that the mor labour intensive these are to make, the more they will cost.

the bumper mounts to the stock tow hook location, crossmember bolts(front) and the end treatment plate (1/4")(not shown in pix)

i will add two more mid span and 1/8"-1/16" plate inbetween to cover the uni-body, as well as extend the ends out to the end of the fender flairs.

most imprtantly, these will be build to order. this means if one of you wants a stinger top tube, you get a stinger top tube. basicaly i can customize the final produt to your individual liking.

sport & kolesy, these are for you two..

price on these mounts is $45.00 plus shiping pm me for mor info.

ORM, those mounts look real nice. How difficult is it to mount them? Can I get a picture with the whole jeep so I can get a better idea of looks.
