OK, heres a short version of the saga. Got over to Toms yesterday (thanks again Tom for the work area) and proceeded to pull the front suspension. Ran into a snag getting the upper ball joint out so went to Autozone to see if they had anything to help do the job. Wound up getting a pitman arm puller and modifying it to do the job, but also tried a pickle-fork and wound up with a small tear in the rubber boot. Finally got the whole thing together and went to align the clevis. Got the Clevis to where the holes for the main bolt were about 1/2 overlapped and Tom noticed that the strut was hitting the upper CV boot. We tried coming up with different ways to get it finished but couldn't figure out how to keep it away from the boot. Since I had already fubar'd the UBJ I decided to call it a day (about 5pm).

The only thing I can think of right now is to compress the suspension and install it, align the clevis then remove the spring compressors. I know once it is on that the strut won't hit the boot, its just while installing it with the control arm hanging free that it has a problem. Any other suggestions or ideas are welcome. I've posted in the 'Parts Wanted' section to see if anyone who has installed Als arms will part with a stock upper arm (if the UBJ is in good shape) so we'll see how that goes. I'll monitor the one that I tore for now to make sure it isn't going out, hopefully get it replaced next weekend.

I have one, came off wifes KJ, low mileage, etc. Should still be fine for a few miles. Yours for shipping. I will figure out a quote when I get home.

Gotta help the AZ guys when I can.

Awesome JJ! 8) Luckily it won't happen with the passenger side since I now have my spiffy new UBJ popper :P

Once I get this done the tool will be available to anyone who is installing a lift - trust me, it makes life soooo much easier :D

Not yet, trying to decide if I want to give it a shot this weekend or wait for the UCA that JJ will be shipping to me and install it at the same time. I have to work this saturday so if I do try it'll be on Sunday.

Well, since I had all the parts with me and the time to do it I finally got my lift installed this weekend (and there was much rejoicing - Hoorah!!!). Now I just need to get the UCA from JJ (its on its way) and get it installed, also need to get the front bumpstops in then I'll be ready to rock with the big boys :P Oh, I also need to fabricate some lower rear bumpstops to keep it from stuffing too hard, but that just takes some hockey pucks, a drill and a few other cheap hardware stuff 8)
