I just got the antenna, but I don't know how & where to install it. I found a good examble here:

But I don't know how I can install in that area, and what tools I should get.

Thanks

You just need a pieve of aluminum angle iron, installed like an upside down L on the top bolts of the spare tire carrier. Then run the coax under the door or under the glass. Done.

If you have it installed in your vehicle, can you please let me see that Aluminum piece, and if you know the size, and dimension.

Thanks

You can purchase that same mount here...

http://www.arizonarockyroad.com/index.html

I think they're only $20 or so. Or just take a look at it and you can probably fashion something similar after a trip to the hardware store. :D

Read this article before your install; http://www.firestik.com/Meas-SWR.htm#In ... %20PRO-259

Also try searching the Electronic Section for ideas. Tons there. I set mine up similar to the pic you posted, used an antenna mount made for truck mirrors. Just drilled out the holes a bit more to fit over the lug and ran the cable under the door (not the window) and into the weather channels. Hope that helps.

I made this for mine. It’s a piece of 1.5" aluminum angle iron cut down to fit around the window opening.

The problem I have seen with most of the mounts like you have in the first pic. Do not allow the glass to open with out removing the antenna. You will have to space it out several inches from the tailgate to clear.

Look at page four of my CarDomain site. I have many more photos of my radio install.

Thats a great installation, really the problem with others is the rear glass gate, I'll show you the installation in my weekend (Thursday & Friday). 8)

Jason nice work, now if you go with the other type setup all you have to do is buy a spring for the botom of the antenna thats what I did works like a charm just pull back & you can open the glass

Hey W3CSX, did you get the red Turbo Diesel badge? I was thinking about that but didnt know how it would look like. Do you have a close up shot of that handy?

I used steel angle iron for that bracket. I had to notch the downside of the angle iron so the peice would fit flush with the mount. Careful about how long you go though so you don't have sharp metal corner pushing into the spare tire. It was really easy to make took me an hour or so with hand tools. It works great. If you do put the antenna there you will need a spring on the bottom of the antenna so you can flex it back when you need to open the gate.

I ordered it form my local dealer. I believe it was used on the 03-04 (:?:) Dodge Cummins. Sorry I do not have the Part #.

Sorry I forgot the photo.

So enough of the hijacking. How is the antenna mount coming?
