I have the same question, but it looks like it needs revisited.

What's the deal with Spidertrax not having their 1.25" spacers in stock? They've been out of stock for a number of months now.

I've been waiting for them since I installed my lift and 31" MT/Rs. I've seen Rocky Road's spacers on their website, but for some reason I am more prone to trusting Spidertrax....I guess because more people are using them. Anyone using Rocky Road's wheel spacers and like them? They don't state that they are lug and hub centric like the Spidertrax are. How big of an issue is this?

Thanks guys,
Kraig

Are most people here getting wheel spacers because there isnt enough backspacing on their new wheels or is it just because the new tires are much wider and they would like to move it out more?

I have two reasons:

1. To keep the new wider tires from rubbing on my sway bars, and

2. For a wider, better looking stance. I think the lifted KJs look a little "tippy" with just a lift.

I would purchase wider wheels with less backspacing, but I really like the look of my stock Jeep Renegade wheels.

Way cheaper to buy some custom backspaced wheels. Good spacers can run close to $300 for four

Yeah, but to get them to look like what I would want them to look like, I'd have to have them powdercoated, and that's not going to be cheap either.

Why better off with aftermarket wheels? If Spidertrax had the spacers in stock, they'd be $198 for 4, and the ones from Rocky Road would run a little over $300 with shipping included. Does anyone else make spacers such as these, regardless of cost?

5 new rims is not cheaper than 4 wheel spacers. 4 wheels can be around the same price as the 4 spacers, if you get steel rims like Cragars or Rockcrawlers, running around $40 for their cheapest rim.

You should phone them up. Spidertrax is pretty good over the phone. When I first tried to order the spacers they were out of stock and I had to place a two week back order. They could be such low volume items that they're always out of stock and only manfactured when someone orders them. Btw, from a safety stand point, definately don't get lug centric.

I bought my spacers from Rocky Road, and they shipped Spider Trax. IDK if they are still selling those, but they were a couple of years ago. They weren't advertised as Spider Trax, so it was a pleasant surprise when they showed up.

Finally, some helpful information.

Thanks Unixx. You're very helpful as always! And that KJ is still looking awesome.

Snowsport, I'll keep that in mind if it's an overly long wait for the spacers direct from Rocky Road.

Thanks again guys.

Just note that spacers over 1/4" aren't legal in Pennsylvania. You could fail state inspection with larger spacers unless
you can prove that the spacers were original equipment installed at the time the vehicle was purchased.

Thanks priell3. I am already aware of the statute addressing wheel spacers and standard PA Inspection regulations.
Warning duly noted. :)

This is not directed at priell3, or any other L.O.S.T members, mostly just me venting, but.....

I still don't understand why spacers, which bolt to the hub and incorporate wheel studs pressed into the spacer themselves, would be illegal! This law was not put into affect with these types of spacers in mind. This law is closed mindedly only looking at add on spacers that would take up threading on the wheel studs, therefore creating a less than adequate adhesion of the wheel to the hub.

If the spacers sold and manufactured by Spidertrax are able to stand up to the rigors of hardcore offroading, why wouldn't they be safe for on street travel? Are they not safe at highway speeds?

Unixx,

I assume that your Liberty is your daily driver, right? Have you had it on any roadtrips since putting on the wheel spacers? What does your daily commute consist of? Do you typically do any highway driving?

Also, I emailed Spidertrax first thing this morning, and already got a reply from them stating that the WHS-002 model spacers do go in and out of stock, but if I placed an order for them today through Spidertrax directly, I would probably have them by Oct. 31, 2006. Not bad.

Thanks as always for the info everyone.
Kraig

Kraig,

My Liberty is my daily driver and I've been on a number of road trips since I installed the Spidertrax. A 10 hour round trip, an 18 hour round trip, and three 2 hour round trips, all of which were highway driving at fairly high speeds. My day to day driving is composed mostly of two 20 minute stop and go drives. I've been off road with the spacers numerous times and once had the wheel lugs accidentally tightened to twice their torque by a fellow jeeper without causing any damage to the spacer. They must be legal in VA, because I even passed the safety inspection with the spacers installed. BTW, my KJ said to thank you for the compliment

Ah, your KJ already knows he's a looker! And thanks again. I'm sold. I'll be placing the order within a week.

That's the same price as the Spidertrax site now. When I first bought them they were $150 a pair; $50 is a nice discount.
