I'll be joining you Saturday and maybe Sunday as well. My wife and daughter will be with me as well. Not sure if we will be camping or staying in Aurora.

My schedule has changed and I won't be able to get there until Saturday mid-day. I may try to meet up with you on the trail Saturday afternoon. I am unsure of my arrival time as I will be bringing my wife and daughter and that tends to add quite a bit of variance to my time plans. I will be there Sunday though. What are the plans for Sunday? Are you going to run some of the forest roads outside Turkey Bay? I have heard 305 is a good one.

Here is a short and, I am sure incomplete version of the trip report. Unfortunately I was unable to catch up to the crew until late Saturday afternoon. We arrived at Turkey Bay OHV area at approx. 3:30. We knew the crew was on CB channel 4 and so we started to circle the main trail listening for them. We would catch a few word every now and then, but could never make contact. I finally ran into a couple of the guys from Itsajeep.org (Jeremy and Kevin) and we went up to the top of RockyTop so that Jeremy could play and to wait for the rest of the group (including the LOST guys). When we finally met up, KJ-BOL had already left. I think I may have passed you on the trail to the campground. Anyway, we all headed back to our respective camps since it was getting dark with plans to meet in the morning. I met up with Pixeldzn and Sundvl(with his bro in law Dennis) at 9:30 Sunday Morning. My wife and daughter weren't ready to leave yet (my little girl had been offered a horse ride from one of the neighbors in camp) and so I had to make arrangements to meet the group later in the day. It was decided to skip Turkey Bay and to explore some of the forest roads outside of the OHV area. I caught up with the group on forest rd 143 a little before noon. We proceeded to run several of the different forest roads on the north side of the highway. On one of the roads (305 I think) Pixeldzn got stuck in some really slick muddy ruts. After several failed attempts to drive out, he relented to the strap and I pulled him out backwards so that he could try another line. His second attempt was sucessful. I followed the easier line and made it through without issue. A little further down the trail Pixeldzn ran into some really deep ruts and high centered with all four spinning free in the air. Sundvl gave him a little tug from the front and he was moving again. I avoided the deeper ruts and ran a different line. We stopped for lunch next to a nice little lake. Pixeldzn grilled some dogs and we watched a bald eagle fly for a few minutes and visited. Moving on to yet another road, we came across a fullsize GMC that was high centered in some really deep ruts. Sundvl tried to give him a tug from behind to get him out, but was just spinning tires. After several attempts at tugging with a little momentum, I pulled in front of Sundvl and attached a strap. With both of us pulling, the mud relented and released the GMC. Our good deed done for the day we continued on. The rest of the run went smoothly. We found some great "roads" that would be exciting for the stockers and not completely boring for those with mods. The scenery was great, weather was perfect and I am glad to have met some great guys. My wife, daugher and I had a great time. Pictures to be posted below if I can figure out how.

I burned you a dvd of my last badlands run. It isn't as funny as the cliffs, but at least I was able to drive home this time. I'll mail it out to ya today.

Got the disc, thanks man! It's still pretty da*n funny - good commentary! Just the boost I needed to get through this last month of home detention

Do you pull the front skid to clean out after wallowing in the mud like that or do you just leave it there until the next time? I'm getting lazy. The longer I own this Jeep the less I clean it...

I spray the skids with a power washer before the mud dries into cement. I have pulled the front skid a couple times for other reasons and it is always clean.

I don't think you can ever get all the mud off. I have a permenant dirt ring around my kj in the driveway. My wife has nick named it "Pigpen". The YJ has a dirt ring and an oil spot. My neighbors must love me.
