Hi, all!

Well, I jumped at an opportunity that arose and I have switched from being the future owner of a 2006 Green Renegade to being the future owner of an Inferno Red 2005 Sport 4x4 CRD!! :D

The Exchange New Car Sales received the latest "hot list" and a nicely built CRD Sport was on the list at a price approx $5000 less than the Renegade I had ordered. I will be using the savings to purchase the inital upgrades that I want for around $1500 so, in the end I'll end up with a more capable KJ with more upgrades for less $$$!

Here's what's on the CRD Sport that is different from the Renegade I had ordered:

- engine block heater
- 5-Speed Automatic
- Trac-Lock Diff Axel
- Selec-Trac Full Time 4WD
- P225 OWL All-Season Tires (I had the ATs on the Renegade)
- 16" x 7" Luxury Aluminum Wheels
- Inferno Red Exterior
- Khaki Cloth Interior
- Power Sunroof
- and of course, the biggest difference: The 2.8 Liter CRD

Here's the list of similar features for both the '06 Renegade and this '05 Sport:

- AM/FM with CD / six speakers
- Skid Plate Group (Front Suspension, Tranny, Fuel Tank, and Transfer Case skids)
- Tow Hooks
- Trailer Tow Group
- Security Group
- 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brakes
- Supplemental Side Air Bags
- Fog Lamps
- Rear 12v Power Outlet

I lost the hood, light bar, taillamp guards, rock-rails, and the coveted "Renegade" badge  and some other minor model differences but, I didn't think that I would miss any of those right away, well except for the rock-rails and light bar BUT...

I did some pricing onine and I can order the light bar, rock-rails, roof rack, slush floor mats, 5 AT tires, and a snazzy bug deflector for around $2000 (with labor) which is still a savings of around $3000! Not to mention the "potential" savings from running a CRD as opposed to a V-6 gasoline engine. Although, after Katrina I don't think either fuel will be below $3.00 for some time.

I'll be picking her up in November, once I return to the states and I can't wait!! :D

Here's what she looks like now.

Ok, now I see! You are AD USAF stationed overseas. :D What's your MOS ??

I'm a "recent" USAF Retiree (20 years) and current Gov Employee (VA) and I'm NOT eligible.

It's $5000 less due the model, features, and mostly due to a higher rebate for this vehicle than for the '06 Renegade I had ordered. 8)

MOS?? Man, you must have hung out with them there Army Grunts too much! :P

My AFSC is in the 3C series. Can't really say more.

Yeah, ENCS is a great way for DoD employees who are stationed overseas to purchase a new vehicle. I've had nothing but a pleasent experience so far with them.

Congrats on your retirement!! Thanks for the 20! I'm looking to do the same (or more). I'm heading to Mountain Home next and can't wait to go exploring the back country in my KJ!
