OK, I finally got my daystar lift installed, but ran into a small problem. The extended bumpstops that were included don't want to fit in the recesses for the standard units. I tried using light oil, WD40 and some other stuff to get them in but had no luck. It seems like the curve of the portion that goes in isn't quite the same as the OEM units. Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so how did you resolve it? I'd really like to get these installed before I go wheeling in a couple of weeks.

Thanks

I installed the ones that came w/ my original lift into my wifes KJ recently and it was tough. I shaved the edges off them w/ a box cutter and then used some grease on them. I then used a 2x2 piece of steel tube leveraged against the tire to push then into place. (try a 2x4?) It took some struggling and a couple curse words to get them to finally pop in but it worked. Good luck.

I trimmed off the edges as well, used some wd-40 and a good size wrench to pop it in. Took a while!

How much longer are the Daystar bumpstops compared to the originals?
Anyone have side by side comparison pics?

OK, at least I'm not the only one who had problems. Thanks gus, I'll give it another go this weekend. I also need to pull the springs out of the rear and put in some lower bumpstops, but that shouldn't be a big deal.

The purpose (as I understand it) is to prevent over-travel of the front struts which causes them to fail prematurely. With a lift installed and the stock bumpstops in place the strut tends to bottom out and wear out faster.

Yes, those are them. I don't know how they compare the the daystars, those are skyjackers. they are 1" longer then the stock, i am still concerned because Universeman did a write up a while ago and he had stated that there was over an 1" 1/2 of space when compressed between the arm and the bump stop. I might add a little something extra or change out the fronts for Rusty's coils. I don't know, been thinking.

I called skyjacker and they gave me the number to a local performance jeep shop and was able to order through them.

Yea if anyone knows where we can get those in either brand post up! I had no idea there was a stop available that fit the KJ mount, is it new? I could use a set for my front end, I put in 1/2" clevis spacers and could use an additional 1" or so of bumpstop. Sweet!

Quadratec.com sells the Skyjacker bumpstops. I no longer have the email, but I think the quoted about 40 bucks for the pair.

You only need these if you have a lift with the stock struts I believe. Ive bottomed my front suspension out with the OME lift many times. Im fairly sure it hits the bumpstops..

we installed the skyjacker 2.5 lift on a friends Reneagde, and this took us the most time to get in... we tried everything,, lots and lots of pounding...channel locks came in handy to hold in place... had to shave his also... even heated them up in the oven alittle.... will never try to install those again...lmao

now if i do the bumpstops will it fix the problem of blown struts. because i don't wanna put new struts on and have the same issue as before. if that's the case then i'll get a spring lift. i'm kinda short on cash so if adding bumpstops and better struts will fix the problem and it won't be a reoccuring issue than that's the route i wanna go

Wow, look how clean that wheel well is :P Sport, what all did you have to do to get them in? Am I mistaken or does it look like theres some hammer hits around where the bumpstop mounts? I still need to put mine in - I've done plenty of off-road without them installed and it seems as if the springs actually compress fully before the shock bottoms out but hving them in can't hurt anything.
