Last year, before Motorweek, we sat in the sprinter(sat in a freightliner chassis as soon as they had them in the lot in Irving Tx) at McClains RV in Denton, Tx. There was no tilt wheel and the full msrp was like $78K. At the recent motor home show it was not hard to get 25 - 33% off depending on the models. The Duramax/Allison - saw one at McClains and saw one at the show - I vaguely remember one build was of inferior quality. The FRED Crescendo by gulfstream was shown at the dallas rv show by Professional Sales RV of Colleyville, Tx ~ 75k , one of two was immediately bought upon the show opening. It was one of the family members that loved driving the fred to the show and it was also one of his relatives at their store who still liked pushers for maintenance. I remember seeing a plastic end caps CAC like the CRD on one model but fred has a metal CAC. FRED by freightliner has cummins/allison and vgt and 15000 mile oil changes. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'm sure some rv'ers can be of more help.
Guys,
Sorry to jump in so late on this long thread...
I installed a Provent at 16500kms (10,000miles) about two and half months ago. I now have 20,000kms on the clock and still are getting oil in both CAC hoses. I had cleaned both hoses thoroughly, the air valve and the intake bend of all the goo (but not the intercooler) once I installed the Provent. The Provent is collecting oil and the filter is beginning to turn black at the bottom section. I have used Shell fully synthetic oil since the 5000kms service. I have pulled every thing apart in the CAC hose network except the turbo and intercooler. The turbo has no end or side float and the compressor section looks and feels clean and dry. I have had a new air filter, (which is dry), since 16000kms.
Any ideas where the oil is coming from? Could it be I have a heap of oil stuck in the intercooler and it is still being stirred up?
Any help would be appreciated.
