This was mentioned in the CAI thread, and I thought I would start a seperate thread to discuss it.

Has anyone figured out a way to get more turbo sound without chipping or installing a CAI? I want to hear more of that wonderful high-pitched whistling sound when my turbo is boosting under load.

Best way is to trade on a new Cummins Dodge and throw a set of twins on it......haha. I too love the sound of a turbo doing it's job, sure miss my '98 Cummins....oh well change is good?? :):)

There really is a "whistle" you can buy somewhere that inserts in your tailpipe...makes any car/truck/Jeep sound like a turbo...can
t remember where I saw it...

this will get lots of gruff from the guys here, but put an open air filter on it and it should make the whistle more noticeable. On the Lightnings, it makes the SC whine quite a bit louder.

I tried everything. You can't make the whistle louder on the Jeeps. The Dodge trucks have a "silencer ring" on the inlet to the turbo...pop that out and it'll sound like a dump truck. I love it. These Jeeps don't have those. They also don't have the silencer inside the intake tube like on the Dodge trucks either. Open airbox won't help. No muffler won't help. I've tried everything to make the Jeep's diesel sound like a real diesel...and I've had very little success. :?
