2003 libby guys with mopar tranny skid

my question is for 2003 libby guys with mopar tranny skid installed, what exactly has to be modified for it to fit?
I have heard bending and washers, drilling etc, but no clear explanation of what needs to be done.

anyone got pics? :wink:

I need to slap my tranny skid and transfer case skid on this sat. and just want to know what i need, if anything.

First install your transfer case skid. Leave the two front bolts out. Take the front of the tranny skid and tuck in under the engine skid. Only one bolt will line up, but that is ok. Look where the exhaust comes close to the skid and mark that area to pound down. If you don't it will bend into the exhaust and make noise.

Then tuck the tranny skid under the lip of the transfer case skid. Put one bolt in and mark the tranny skid where you need to drill the other hole.

Pull the tranny skid off pound it, drill it, then reinstall, but this time make the tranny skid overlap the transfer case skid.

BakerKJ is close to what I did...except in place of using a hammer to make it fit where the exhaust touches the skid plate....I cut away the skid plate so that it wouldn't touch the exhaust pipe (just the top of it...i.e. not all the way through). It took some time of custom cutting and drilling. Good luck!

Hmm, on my KJ the t-case skid and the tranny skid do not overlap. There were two sets of holes for the nut-serts and when I got everything installed there is about a 1/2" gap between the two skids. As for my tranny skid I drilled a hole in the end toward the rear to match one of the nut-sert locations and used both rear bolts in teh factory locations. Only problem with this is that neither of my front bolts lined up; I am considering changing that soon to match the way bakerkj has his mounted.

the tranny one does not overlap the transfer case skid though, its not possible. and I used a couple 3/ steel spacers so no pound of the plates was required to clear the exhaust.

That's odd your's doesn't overlap. I'll take a look at mine when it stops raining. All my skids except the tranny were installed at the factory. As you can see in the photo the transfer case skid covers the entire crossmember, so the tranny skid has to overlap on mine.

On my 06 it looks just like that as well, and it came that way stock.
