The Liberty is gone. I was coming home from work yesterday, driving the LJ when about a block from my house I notice a Liberty laying on it's side in a neighbors yard. As I got closer, I realized it was mine! My wife had rushed out of the house to take one of our cats to the vet for respiratory distress, but lost control of the KJ as she turned the corner at the end of our street. She jumped the curb, clipped the corner of the neighbor's house and rolled the Jeep all the way over, landing on the driver's side. Here are a rew pics from my cell phone: (edit: I don't know why the picture links don't work, but if you copy paste it in you address bar it should come up)
As you can see, the lower a-arm on the front passenger side broke. The ball joint recall was done about three weeks ago, so that wasn't the cause. And my boulder bars started to buckle on the driver side. I think that the boulder bars and the skids helped to stiffen the frame so it wouldn't deform as much when it landed on the side.
I don't think we'll be buying another car for a while as my wife works from home anyway. She manged to come out of the ordeal with just some bad bruising and a few scratches. No one else was injured. The cat somehow managed to get out of the carrier during the accident and got his collar pulled off from a nearby bush. We have not been able to find him yet. He does have a microchip implant so if someone finds him he may still be able to be returned to us.
I'll still be on the boards, but I may not have much to say about the KJ now except that it performed like a champ on-road, offroad and even during it's demise. Thank you all for getting me lost in the Jeep thing. Happy trails.
