Has anyone thought about replacing the rear bench with captain-style seats? I was just thinking that having a 4 seater would be cool. Might lose cargo room though...

Hmm, the kids get along better like that, I would consider trying this myself, maybe I can fiddle with the back captains seats out of the van

I thought about pulling the front seats out of a wrecked KJ. That way the rear seats could still fold down (a little) and would be more comfortable than the bench that is in there now. Maybe even throw a center console between them...

Liberator has front buckets in the back. I came real close to doing this mod but couldn't find a front set of seats for a reasonable price when I was wanting to do it. I had removed the rear seat and measured up for a center console too. Maybe time to hunt for seats again?

This would be a really slick interior mod, especially if someone came up with a quick disconnect mount so that they could be taken out easily.

My girlfried hates you all, you just gave me another great idea! An I saw a wrecked KJ in the Bay Area too..... The quick disconnecting seats is a good idea, that would give a lot more space.

Well, I am sure that i am not the only one who gets the sigh when proposed mods to the KJ mentioned. You know, the look that says, "Another Mod.........". And the proper response is

My dad told me about a grand wagoneer back home in Paris texas that has a lift and 35's on it. He said that it has a fresh 360 in it and the guy wants like 2500 for it. I'm going to check it out when i go home for christmas.

My neighbor has one for sale. I think he said he wanted $1,000 for it. I think it has 33" tires and a 6 inch lift. I live near Charlottesville, Virginia if anyone is interested.

My dogs would lose it if I replaced the rear bench seat. But what about putting in some fold-away, easy-out rear captain chairs from a mini-van. Those things are relatively confortable and are designed to fold down and, with the pull of a handle, come tumbling out.

If I remember right the European market has a lot more options than we do.

Hi. guys and gals:
Just finished installing high back buckets in back of the Lib. Works good, seat belts, head room and they fully recline. I used the Best top aqua seats out of my YJ that I sold. I used part of the front support brackets from the bench seat and had to fab two new "Ü" floor mounts. Rear support was a piece of 1.5 inch 1/8 wall square tube that uses the shoulder belt bolts on either side to mount to floor. Than made brackets that bolted to seat and hooked over the back of the 1.5 inch tube then bolted through. Beefed up the tube in the center and mounted the double seat belt buckles. I'm not sure of the strength
so I'm going to incorporate the center two seat belt mount points as extra hold down for the tube. Still have a bit of tweaking and cleaning up, but all in all I'm real happy. Mike.

Did those work? I can see them....

I would seriously consider this, only if they were quick release so that I could have my cargo area when I want it.
