I was thinking how awesome it would be to cut the roof off behind the passenger area, exposing just the cargo area, removing all the glass and just having a roll-bar with a soft-top. In a few years I bet we'll see someone do this when their Lib is getting high mileage. Someone with a SFA KJ should do this  That would just be the meanest KJ out there then, no doubt.

Terry at Profinish-Proglass made it for a SEMA show. He's the one that did my Jeep.

Here's his from the front corner.

Here's mine. It's not a 2 door convertible like his. Mine was built to be the fastest Liberty.

I cant decide if I like the two door or not. There are some cool parts and there are some other parts than kinda remind me of "...gasp..." a Kia Sportage.

You need to see it up close. With that Skyjacker lift, you would never mistake it for a Sportage.

That is one sharp KJ...not something i would do to mine, but i still think it turned out great. Nice and open like a Wrangler, and fold the back seats down, and its almost like having a pickup truck too (well, if there wasn't a huge sub in the cargo area)

I would love to put a hood like that on my KJ, something to get more cool air to my FIPK and take advantage of the other mods. Maybe something a little more subtle, that keeps more to the lines of the original hood.

I'd like to see this redone with a folding down rear tail gate and a pickup bed. I think that would be cool.

AEV keeps making all these cool kickbutt mod'd Jeeps. Why can't they pass on the component designs to companies to mass produce so we can buy them....or make them in mass and sell them to Jeep owners. The stuff they do kicks some serious butt.

If....if....if, I ever get married and get my Jeep paid off, I would be willing to make mine convertible but still keep it four doors (somehow).

They might be doing just that.

from allpars scrambler info page

Update: AEV Conversionsby Glenn Paulina

The Wrangler-based pickups we photographed show an updated version of the AEV Brute pickup conversion done by American Expedition Vehicles. AEV has a strong history with Chrysler Corp., having DaimlerChrysler's Design Excellence Award at the 2002 SEMA show.

According to our sources, AEV has created a new version of the Brute based on the all-new 2007 Wrangler, and has discussed some level of joint-venture manufacturing with DCX, utilizing the Viper plant as a prime niche-production site. AEV would take their business and production volumes to a new level, while DCX could tap into AEV's experience with Wrangler-based pickup conversions. If such a relationship comes to fruition, it would most likely be offered through official Jeep channels, bringing an interesting pickup alternative to Jeep dealers for a very low overall investment. It would solve the cost issues that killed the Gladiator concept, which used its own unique platform.

It's our understanding that the arrangement between AEV and DaimlerChrysler is still in the concept stage, perhaps awaiting the public's response to the new 2007 Wrangler-based pickup at this year's SEMA show.

dude a convertible libby would be awesome, i wonder how much it would cost to do that??? I would prefer more wrangler sized roll bars and soft top, and since i don't have a 2 door libby then i would just cut mine off at the back doors!!!

Here's my public response: Build them!
When you look at what's available in the midsized/small pickup market, the Jeep/AEV pickups are a big breath of fresh air. Great looks, proven platform, tough trucks that nobody else is making. Likely be a limited market given the probable price tag and considering what the vehicle actually is and does, but I can see a lot of people going for them because of their uniqueness and versatility. If they reach market, I am going to be SORELY tempted to get one. It will have to depend on how spendy they end up being.
