So, I've got the Mopar basket, and I love it. But the more 3 to 5 day trips I do, I wish I could have a basket that would A) let me put more crap up on the roof and B) that would support more weight (like a person). I'm also looking for one with a little ladder, like commonly found on Land Rovers. It's just nice to be able to get up on the roof.

Has anyone seen anything like this for a KJ? I'm sure with it being sold in Austraillia that someone there would have developed something by now... they have all the cool 4x4 goodies there.

Thanks for the help!

Awesome, sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Jerry cans are one of the big reasons I'd like to get on the roof, it's a big pain at the gas station to pull them down one at a time, fill them up, and then put them BACK on the roof... and repeat 3 times. It would be much easier to just climb up there with the nozzle and fill them all up at once.

If I find something I like better than the Mopar rack, I'll sell mine dirt cheap...

When I use my rack I had the same kind of Sept that Big D just said, it can also be used on the back spare tire as a jetty can if you have it ratchet strapped to the tire. I think my tire and that can is the max for the tailgate.

The big strong aluminum ones were from South Africa...expensive but I like the fact that you remove the factory rails and use the "feet" provided. Keeps the rack lower and stronger.

Someone here posted a vid of a guy who filled up his gas cans while they were on the back of his truck: static set the fuel ablaze and the whole thing went up in flames. It is always a good idea to remove the gas cans from the vehicle (set them on the ground) to avoid this happening. Anyone remember this video?

What's that supposed to mean?

I don't know how they do things down in Pineville, Louisiana, but where I come from it's not real nice to say somebody is a candidate for Natural Selection.

I've never taken cans off the vehicle to fill them up, and I've never blown up. They also say it's "very dangerous" to talk on a cell phone near a gas pump... and there are only like 3 cases, nationwide, where there has been a fire started... and they have NOT proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that it wasn't the fault of the gas pumps.

I'm glad you and PineVille up there enjoy ridiculing other people, but I asked for help not smart remarks. So, maybe if you want to tease people you could find somewhere else to do it?

remarks aren't meant for you Brenden...they were in remark to the video that one of the persons was referring too. None of the "darwin" remarks were meant for you...have you narrowed your selection down yet on a roof rack??

My bad. I guess some stuff gets lost in translation when typing over the internet. I apologize.

Anyway; no choice on the roof rack yet... I've been too busy to do any real research.

Thanks again for the clarification.
