Very cool of you priell3! I'll be making the same offer when I'm done with my install. I'm sure I'll have left-overs too.

Good catch 0311_DoC! I guess they changed it back. I tried to download the manual from the link you provided, but it's not pulling anything down. I also noticed that they increased the price a bit. Who cares, it's still worth it.

Just for clarification, which instructions manuals would it be most helpful for me to PDF and post? I have the Mopar tranny, T-case, and fuel tank skids, and the Reese front hitch. Who wants what? If it works for anyone else, here is the link for the Reese #R13542 install instructions. It doesn't work for me. I'll just have to do it the old fashioned way and remove all that plastic and get the actual paperwork out.

Nanette - I'm having deja vu.

Cool! Thanks the1jferg! I won't post the pict, because it's a really good-size, but [http://www.thefergusons.us/kj/100_0527.JPG]here's the link[/url]. You should be able to right-click that and download the linked file.

I'll see if mine comes with any more instruction than the1jferg. If it does, I'll post it as soon as I can. I'll do the same with the Transmission & Fuel skids and the front receiver. Sorry again for taking so long.

The installation instructions I got for the same front mount hitch was for the '02-'04 model years (as the hitch I ordered was for such). There were no front mount hitches for 2005+ years KJ - I just knew from this site that others had installed the '02-'04 versions and that the frame box dimensions were the same once the front bumper cover was removed. The only thing that applies in the directions for us newer model years is removing the grill, the frame box end caps, and drilling 2 new holes. All the supplied plastic (or are they metal?) things for reattaching the front bumper cover are not needed.

You just need to go slow while trying to unhook the front bumper cover as not much holds it on.

It does say transfer skid - what's up with that? That is the ENGINE/FRONT DIFF skid! Jeep has some confusing stuff that's been published! I have the transfer skid instructions that show the actual transfer skid.

AllJeep! You just ansered a question I was about to post! That was awesome! I was thinking just this morning about how I remembered someone saying that they had to replace some little clippy things when they pulled their front bumper/cover thing to install the front hitch. I'm going to install this thing this weekend if I can find the time and I might not be near the house or any known autoparts store, so I'm sitting here trying to make my packing list.

Do you recall what metal drill bit size you needed for the install?

Regarding the skid install instructions...that's crazy! I didn't even notice that was the Engine skid! Ha! I looked at it a second time and it crossed my mind that it was more rectangular than my transfer case skid.

I wonder if my Transfer case skid install instructions will say "Fuel Skid" on the top. :-)

It's a big bit, and I didn't have it when I needed it. I used the largest I had, then reamed it the rest of the way open with what appeared to be some kind of countersink took for wood working. Definitely not the clean drill holes I wanted, but I was at the point of no return and it was going to get finished one way or another!

Put some Spray Rustoleum in your install kit. I sprayed the two new drilled holes, then spray coated all the bolts after installation.

Also, some tin snips would help if you need to trim any plastic. Your front bumper cover is slightly different than mine since it's a Limited and mine is a Sport. Or, have the dremmel tool with you - always handy!

Can you post them or email me a copy of your tranfer skid instructions?

Updated: Never mind, I looked it up in the sevice manual. This is weird, but mine SURE ain't the "tranfer case skid" it says (claims) on the sheet!!!
It is the engine skid for sure...Sorry for the mix up...just going by info at hand

Dana 35, now this...I need to switch dealers!!!!!

I'm sure this thread should be dead now but i need to know if anyone else thinks the tranny skid (52128925AC)
should be disposable? :?
Wheeled with it and smashed it up against the tranny pan. I think I'll be able to pound it out and for 30 bucks... what do you expect.
Maybe it's time for a super skid.
later

Bringing back the dead. . . .

What's the part number for the discontinued Mopar engine skid? I'm not talking about the current L82209026? My dealer just refunded my purchase of one of these because it does not fit my 2003 KJ. They said the part I need had been discontinued.

I don't want to have to drill my frame. Not equipped or experienced to handle that, and I'm too cheap to pay. :D

Thanks for any info!

T.J.

One of your local lost folks should be able to help you out w/ drilling the frame for the cost of a beer or 6. (assuming there is someone close enough to do that)

Is this the one you're talking about Video Guy?

Engine/Suspension - #52128925AC - $32.19 - Justforjeeps.com (reported at $28 from dealer)

This thread delivers. I am ordering all my skids in the week for my 2003 Freedom.

I am getting:
Front Suspension: 82208140 $38
Engine: 82209026 for $38
Tcase: 82208421 for $38
Gas tank: 82206122 for $90.72

Grand total is $228.11 including shipping from NM to Colorado. I might print this off and go to my dealer and try and order them from them. Has anyone has luck with dealers matching prices and including the nutbar tool?:p

Thanks everyone....this thread answered every single one of my questions.

joe
