gusts of wind, and pretty much wind period really affect the KJs when travelling at high rates of speed, I get it too when I start to go above 75mph....I would think it is normal, unless your hearing any sort of metallic clanging or something like that???

I hate to be the guy to say this, but it's a jeep. The reason it shudders above 80 mph is that it is a JEEP .. nothing more.

I've seen a bunch of people doing that around here... especially on cruddy old 2WD pickups... but I've always heard it's real hard on vehicles.

My KJ used to shutter at 75-80 until she got used to the high speeds. Now the KJ handles reasonably well at 75+. Do need new tires though.

Just FYI - Most of the rural freeways outside of metro Phoenix are 75mph.

Above 80MPH my Liberty (on the expressway) will develop a very low hum. My Liberty is completly stock right down the the goodyear tires. I'm hoping a tire change sometime soon will eliminate the problem.

But until that noise disappears the limit for my Liberty is 80 MPH

That's true but that does not mean that the lib was designed to go that fast. Trust me I have taken my lib to speeds faster than 80 mph but the shaking is just part of it being a jeep

Have had our CRD up to 90 and had no shake that I couldnt attribute to road irregularities. Cruised through mountians with cruise set on 80 with no problem. Of course we were loaded down pretty heavy so that might have smoothed things out a bit.

Several times hit 80, and had no problems on goodyear wrangler HP 17" tires. Also went up to 100 once or twice, but most of those times it was flooring so had the engine shaking the KJ a bit, steering was still OK.. But if I were to let go of the gas and cruise from 100 down to 80, still no obvious violent shakes.
Normally drive around 50-65mph.

One thing I noticed, if you go up on the mph steadily, you don't even notice you are speeding, untill you glimps at the dashboard.

Do not speed.

My jeep shakes alittle around 80mph. I think its just the A/T tires though. My hp's shake alittle too but they have around 22k on them and theyve never been balanced. Been needing to get that done but I know its just going to bring the clear coat off the lip of the rim and look worse than they already do.. :?

Im thinking about getting them re-cleared.. :?

My Jeep shakes above 70 at the moment....but I am 99% sure that it is just tires. I have the awful POS Goodyear HPs that came with my Jeep. The darn dealer hasn't been able to balance them properly for like 2 years now. They rotated them around the other week, I had to get them derotated because they shook so bad I couldn't go over 65 without fear of breaking stuff.

I am looking forward to the ride of new tires....just not paying for them...

(I so wish the speed limit on highways was 75! I would be beyond thrilled!!! I am stuck in wussy 65mph zone....stupid NH! Of course, there are days everyone is driving like 80 and you have to go that or you get run over!)

Yea, 55mph around here too. I usually do around 65mph. I do 75mph in 65mph zones though.. 8) There are some places I know better than to speed like that though..
