I have never noticed any smoke or vapors from the mod to start with, don't ask me why as I haven't a clue.

And I have a ton of vapors coming out from the second it starts. Hopefully will complete the Provent today.

I have an EHM available for shipping to your place to the first that wants it.

Do/did you have the catch bottle on the end of the EHM like I do and have it vented as I do?

Yea, I got that CRS stuff myself. It was a pretty busy weekend and you had a lot of folks tugging at you.

You're up kind of late on a Sunday night. What you doing? I am watching the Magnificent 7 on one of the HD channels of Direct TV. Man I was 15 when this flick came out, and it is still a great flick. 8)

Wonder why some seem to have so much smoke and others don't? Oil levels? Type of oil" Or maybe driving styles??? :?

Been a long day. Mine only seems to smoke at idle. I don't notice any increase under heavy acceleration. have you heard anything from Jeff??

The Magnificent 7 is a true Classic. Look who is in it. Brenner, McQueen, Coburn, etc. They all went on to have successful careers.

Trivia. Which actor was John Ford's son-in-law? And what TV series did he play in?

Had to shut down and go get daughter at work at midnight last night, tht's hard on old men.

Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen, Eli Wallach, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, and the only one I remember having a TV series was Steve McQueen and that show was Wanted Dead or Alive. Robert Vaughn had a TV series called The Man from Uncle but it was several years later.

Well it is 8 am time totake grandson to daycare. I a little tired non, will take a nap later.

What has Gunsmoke got to do with M-7? You threw me off, because I thought maybe he had more then one son-in-law in the industry. You tricky SOB, you owe me a cold one.

OldNavy,
Yes, I have the same setup, holes and all.
Smoke at idle (stopped). I guess even if it was
smoking while moving, you wouldn't see it.
P.S. Used to keep oil at close to full mark until
I found out 1/2 way was the correct? measure.
Now, oil level holds steady at 1/2 mark for the last
2K miles.
What do you think?

Yes I discovered the same thing when I did my first oil change and put in the 6 qts and 10 oz of oil. The next day after it sat over night I discovered it was only a little more then half way between the full and add mark. I had had the dipstick and dipstick tube replaced under warranty as it had been bent so badly as to be unusable at the factory. Anyway I remarked the dip stick and have never overfilled it since, maybe that is why I am not putting out as much smoke and oil as marauderer or others.

I will know how this minor mod is working by the end of the week as the wife is on the road for about 150 miles of highway driving each day for the rest this week and she may be doing that for the rest of the month.

Thanks OldNavy,
I will keep you all posted on my oil consumption also.(or lack thereof).
By the way, regarding the EHM.
As suggested, and I agreed, I did not over tighten the clamp
that holds the PVC tubing onto the PR. Just a little movment,
in case of pressure build up.
Well, I noticed slight leakage of oil out past the hose and down
onto the valve cover! Very slight, but wet. Just enough to wet
(stain) the fingers. Cleaned it up, tightened clamp, all OK.
No obstruction in hose (I knew you were thinking that!).
Anyway, got my to thinking that there is definately positive
pressure there.
Just a thought to help us in designing a CCV valve that drains
the condensed oil vapor back into the engine.
I have some halfbaked ideas, and will keep you posted.

Making a CCV filter for this rig is rather simple thing if a lathe was out in my garage, but other wise will just have to wait till I find someone that will follow my design idea.

In the meantime my filter material is working like a charm on the EHM, will post results Sunday or Monday.

OldNavy,
Let me know and I'll take them over to my
buddies CNC machine shop and he can draft
and machine them.

Bruno.....

OldNavy, funny running into you here as well! ;)

I will patiently wait for your nicely machined CCV artwork (and will likely spring for one for my Jetta, two cleanings later, one prior to EGC VAG-COM mod, one after).

Cheers,
Duey

Sorry to say no one seems interested in making them this time around, probably because of limited market. I guess I will have to make do with EHM for now.

Well after 17 days the tube and bottle has maybe 1/2 oz of oil collected, and it seems like most of the oil is collecting in the raised section of the tubing. Wonder if I am getting any drain back into the engine through the CCV?

I took my EHM off after 800 miles last night and it was crystal clear EXCEPT for the first 3 inches of clear hose at the exit of the CCV - this area was filled with a large puddle of oil that appeared to be draining back into the CCV. It was a large enough amount of oil that after I pulled the hose and tipped both ends up, the oily end drained to the center of the hose coating it completely.

When returned to factory connection, I routed the CCV exit hose over the top of a small diameter coolant hose that goes to the coolant overflow bottle. This makes a significant upslope at the exit of the CCV before turning down into the intake. I think this is all that is needed to keep the oil to a minimum and as such ends my experiment with the EHM. :)
