Hi All, well its 4.20pm here and ive just got back from the Wheel Aligning mob. MTR's are back on, everythings back on it and the springs COULDNT HAVE WORKED OUT ANY BETTER !!!! I'm am absolutely stoked at the way the car not only looks (in ride height) but how it drives.
I wasnt expecting the new coils to fix the nose diving problem that we all get with out KJ's, but I guess the spring rate increase has been enough to affect it. The combination of the new coil and OME front strut feels great, really well matched. I havent taken it off road yet as that is tomorrow, but so far the general feeling is bliss.
I checked for upper ball joint contact; it just touches at full droop, but only the rubber boot part - its not resting hard up against it which I am thankful for.
I am running stock arms still, but early in the new yesr i'm getting Al to send over a set of his uppers.
Here is the extract of the post I made in AusJeep:
New coils worked out better than I had hoped for. It even fixed a little of that nose dive we KJ's get under brakes. The increase in spring rate is considerably higher than stock, 410Lb's VS around 465Lbs. I dont have the exact poundage recorded for these new custom's, but I believe it to be around that figure.
I've had it wheel aligned today too. I've done about 60klms before I got it W/Aligned and a total of around 80klms before I measured it this afternoon, just for settle.
The CV angles are excellent, the CRD's benefit from that 1/2 inch cradle drop factory.
Ride Heights: 561mm Passenger Side Front - 564mm Drivers Side Front
563mm Passenger Side Rear - 567mm Drivers Side Rear
There are no King Spring Dealers in the States, OME seem to have the 4x4 stuff covered.
I will have a think about the possibilities of me sending some over to you guys, but leave that with me.
Cheers
Stu
PS - After all this, I still have no idea what a stock KJ's centre of wheel to guard measurement is - can someone post pls ? I dont know if i've got a 3" lift or a 4" !! lol!!
