I've done a lot of installs for car audio in the past and as it's always a joy to get the power cable for the sub amp through the firewall to the battery it's especially hard with this CRD. Does anyone have any experience with this in a CRD? Do I feed it through where that thick cluster of wires is going through just up and to the left of the brake pedal? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I think you're looking for this http://home.comcast.net/~corwyyn/firewall-penetration.html. I used these instructions on my 05 CRD and it worked great.

This truck is very easy to run wires through the firewall. Take off the plastic kick panel above the brake & go peddles. Look up above and slightly to the right of the Go Go peddle and you will see a round rubber grommet about 3/4" round, it pushes in from the engine side. Pop it out, cut an appropriate size hole in it and replace it, this will provide a decent seal around the wire, plus insulat it from chafing on the steel firewall.

BTW: dont follow those instructions, no need to go drilling holes when there's already one there...I think the one I mentioned is in the body for models that use a throttle cable, where as ours are drive by wire. If you need a pic of what IO am talking about, let me know, but its very easy to spot/find.

Pull the carpet back in the upper drivers footwell and there will be a big rubber grommit up there. Thats where my power wire is run through.
I will recheck tonight when I go to work the exact location

Is that the grommet that's above and to the left of the brake, or the one above the go pedal?

If anyone had a pic of the location of the grommet above the go pedal it would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Thanks for all the help guys. Considering I've only had my Libby for a week I'm glad I ran into this forum early as it'll be a huge help over the next few years I'm sure!!

Once I found that grommet everything was as smooth as silk. In all honesty I'd say it was the cleanest installs I've done in one of my vehicles. Aside from a thump that comes from it you'd never know anything was installed...well also aside from the sub in the back. But again, thanks to everyone for gettin' me through the firewall! I'm trying to make a clean amp rack for the cargo area now so I can easily just pop the sub out when I need the space. I'll post some pics when I have it done.

Thanks!

Cool, an MTX 4202 just fits under the back seat even when folded and due to the shape of the floor the only part of the amp touching the carpet is the mouting feet of the amp...definantly a bonus!!!
