Well I've been feeling as though I've been neglecting the KJ as I'm about to roll over 36,000 and have not done the trans fluid.
Last week when I had the LBJ re-call done I even lied when the tech asked if I had it changed it to avoid being flagged.
I deceided to look at the mainteneance schedule and the owners manual both of which show the first auto trans. change at 60,000 under "schedule B" and no change until 120,000 under "schedule A".
Is this a recent change in service recomendation?
I do not intend to go 60,000 but I am releived DC can't deny a potential repair if I chose to.
Also how do I determine what tranny I have? And is it strong?
Any comments appreciated.

I did mine at 38,000 and it look perfectly clean and fresh. That's not to say some of the additives had not been reduceded significantly though. But I was surprised at how clean it was. If you plan to keep your truck for a long time, then doing the trans every 40,000 instead of 60,000 is probably not a bad idea.

My front diff lube was also still very clean at 38,000. My rear diff lube was dirty. My transfer case fluid was really dirty.

So if you haven't done any of the fluids yet I would do them in this order of precedence with your mileage...

Transfer case
Rear diff
Trans
Front diff

Been changing mine every 30-40.Been clean and the trans seems OK so far.Oh and using ATF+4 until the next change.Gonna flush it with AMSOIL.Had a 100K/7 Year drivetrain warranty and didn't wanna argue with Jeep if I needed the warranty.
