He is talking about he beat up his stock cover really good and has a leak, and is wanting one of these HD covers to replace it.

Yeah definately referring to the stock cover. What a doo doo design. The edges of the cover protrude out past the Iron Diff Casting itself and low and behold I slid off the back of a rock and it peeled open like a tin lid. Luckily it didnt completely rip off, but enough force to make the cover start leaking from the bottom

Don't forget folks, I will give you my cost on Amsoil Severe Gear diff lube if you have purchased a cover from Marty at Rock Lizard. My cost runs around $30 shipped w/ tax to your door for 2 Qts of the Best diff lube in 75W-140 flavor, a little less for 75W-90. Just PM me for more info.

Mine arrived USPS.

I painted it with cheapo bedliner stuff. Not for protection, just because I like the looks of it.

Jim,

Looks cool. You should've gone with gold paint for the bolts, though. They would've matched your shackle.

JJ, You really need a 3rd Qt for the rear (and then only about a 1/4 of it). Eddo and I just changed my front and rear, and I needed to use a little of the 75w90 to top off the rear 75w140. I think enough of it gets stuck in the oil hand pump that 2qts wont do it. Now that I have done this change, this RL cover is going on my list. what a PITA!

How about if we post pictures of what we have done to our new differential cover? I won’t be installing mine for a few months it’s too darn cold.

yeah, I was in the process of rotating my tires and changing my oil when I found the handy diff holder.

David-- Gold would probably be great! But my springs. struts and shock boots are red, so thats where that idea came from.

bless, what an optical illusion!

I was trying to figure out how the heck it was sitting on your gate, and why you painted the inside of the cover!!

Galvanizing this thing might be my option since the sliders were too much of a hassle (tube holes needing drilled).

Here it is all mounted up. Plenty of room between it and the gas tank skid. Stock fluid capacity is just a hair over 2 quarts. I recommend 2.25 quarts for this diff cover so you don't overfill it and start blowing fluid out the vent. This cover went on a KJ with the new ARB air locker. Plenty of room for everything, but the little tabs on the sides need to be pried down just a hair, as shown in this picture:

All mounted up (ignore the RTV squeezing out the bolt holes)

Actually after looking at these pics, I dont see it hanging down below the casting anyhow. Maybe a little at the sides, but you arent going to get hung up there anyhow.
