Got Diesel,

Sorry to hear about your lemon but the last thing you should do is put down Jeep owners just because of your bad experience. Sometimes some cars have issues from the get-go and those cars are not always American made. Take for instance my Japanese built RX-8 which had more problems than any other Amercian made car I have owned. Please don't be the one who turns this informative, mature forum into one of those childish, "my car is better than yours" kind of forum.

Back on topic:
I took my Libby in for a stalling/shuddering problem today in which it would only stall on cold days. Apparently the dealer hadn't heard about the recall until I had DCX relay the info to them. As for the power loss......there is nothing that a chip can't fix.

Got Diesel:

You think that VW will be trouble free? Hmm. Take a look around www.vwvortex.net or even www.tdiclub.com.

No one makes tens of thousands of cars that are trouble free, not even Toyota or Honda. The last 3 new Fords I owned were no better then our CRD, our Toyota was wose then the CRD, my last Nissan worked the Gold Warranty to death and before I could sell the truck the 5 spd tranny it went south to the tune of a $900 repair bill. The least problematic I have ever owned was our '87 Jeep Cherokee 4L that was an early build car, the only thing that car had to go back to the dealer for was a broken rear door/hatch about week afer buying. Never did find out why that happened, but I suppect the wife was at fault. My Dodge Magnum has so far been more reliable then a friends new FJ, our CRD, a friends new Ford and my wifes best friend new Honda.

Sometimes a mfg just gets everything wrong for what ever reason, as did Jeep with the CRD, and the owners end up being on the short end of the stick. I have had friends over the years get stuck my about every major auto mfg with dud vehicles that were poorly thought out and were unreliable and a PIA till the vehicle was gotten rid of at some point.

That's right Oldnavy; let calmer, cooler heads prevail.

When I had my Jetta TDI, I had some issues with it (like replacing the fuel injector pump at 36k) but overall it wasn't a bad vehicle in my opinion. Some members on tdiclub.com lamented about falling windows, MAF's, door hinges, rubber insulation around doors, VW's oil specs, etc., etc.,etc. Some members claimed that VW didn't care about its owners and that they were only concerned about keeping the vehicle running until the warranty expired. If you believed some of these posts you would be convinced that VW would deny any warranty claim just so they could save money and screw the owner.

I got my CRD primarily because it offered more room and it is better in adverse conditions.

My CRD hasn't been a bad vehicle (so far) either. It's been subject to several TSB's/recalls/customer satisfaction notifications (whatever), but it's never left me stranded. It's too early for me to decide whether or not my CRD is a POS or not.

I wouldn't necessarily buy into some of the hype and hysteria contained in some posts. I've heard it all before about other vehicles on other websites.
